First day of Kindergarten
Flashback:
The teacher cleared her throat. "Good morning boys and girls. My name is . I am your new kindergarten teacher. I hope we can all be good friends. Now, can everybody find a chair and sit down?"
Leah took a seat besides a shy-looking boy.
She smiled at him. "Hi! My name is Leah."
Sam observed her. She looked OK, not one of those girly-girly girls. "I'm Sam."
"Are you shy?"
Sam looked horrified. "NO!"
"Well, you look like it."
"But I'm not! I'm as tough as a tiger!"
Leah laughed. "Yeah, right."
Sam was angry. It wasn't everyday people thought that he was weak and shy. "I'll show you how strong I am!"
Leah raised her eyebrows. "How?"
Sam winked at her. "Watch." And he went and tried to lift the table.
saw him. "Sam! Put that table down! It's for putting stuff on, no for lifting!"
This sudden sound scared Sam. He dropped the table on his foot. "OWW!"
rushed to him, with Leah right behind her. "Are you OK?"
Sam whimpered. "No."
"I'm taking you to the nurse's office, OK?"
"F-fine."
Leah tugged on the teacher's skirt. "Can I come?"
"No," said firmly. "Stay in class and work on your drawing." Then she took Sam to the nurse's office. Leah rushed after them.
"I'm coming too!" Leah's red dress was flying everywhere. Sah ran into the nurse's office. "Sam!"
"Leah!" Sam hugged her. "I'm glad you came."
The nurse came in. "Young lady, you are not supposed to be in here."
"Can I stay? Please?" Leah gave the nurse her best puppy face.
The nurse hesitated. "Fine. But don't make too much noise." She winked at them and walked out of the room. Sam and Leah grinned.
Sam turned to Leah. "Why'd you come after me?"
Leah blushed. "Well, I thought it was my fault taht you got a boo-boo."
Sam patted her on the head. "It's OK. Not your fault. My fault for trying to lift that bad table up."
Tears welled up in Leah's eyes. "Yes it is! I'm so sorry Sam!"
Sam hugged her again. "It's not. Don't cry Leah."
She sniffled. "Fine." They were quiet for a minute.
Teh Sam looked at Leah. "You look pretty in that red dress," Sam said shyly.
"Uhh...thank you," Leah stammered.
They both blushed. Sam held her hand.
The nurse came back. "You can go now Sam."
Sam smiled. "Sure! Thanks !" He tugged on Leah's hand. "Let's go Lee-Lee!"
Leah giggled at the nickname he gave her. She followed Sam to their classroom. It was going to be a good day.
End Flashback
Leah's POV
It was the best day of my life. The day I met Sam. I could tell that we would be together for a long time. We were perfect for each other. No one could tear us apart. No teachers, no friends, and no Emily. He was there for me and I was there for him. It was the beginning of our beautiful friendship. If you asked me then about the future, I would have told you that I would be Sam's 'Lee-Lee' forever. Too bad forever had already ended.
Sam POV
That was the first day Leah and I met. The best day of my entire life. No Emily could compete with it. It was the day I first made a friend, not to mention a female friend. I gave Leah a nickname; Lee-Lee. I thought it fitted perfectly with her, and we used the name often. Lee-Lee and I were meant for each other. From that day, Leah become my water, warmth, happiness, food, the reason I lived, air and water. Too bad another planet decided to join the party.
