L watched Light and Mastuda from his swivel chair with an air of vague amusement.

Mastuda, he felt, was being very obvious.

"Light-kun! Can I get you a coffee?"

"Uh… Okay. Thanks, Mastuda. Two sugars, no milk."

"Okay!"

Then, "Light-kun! Where do we keep the cups?"

"They're over the machine, Mastuda. Get Watari to show you where."

"Ah! I see them! Okay, thank you!"

A few minutes later, "Light-kun! There's no sugar left! What should I do?"

"Ugh…Just go down to the convenience store, Mastuda. There's one around the corner."

"All right! Back in a few minutes!"

Step, step, step, step, door slam.

L saw Light groan slightly and massage his temples. He pushed off from his desk and coasted over next to him.

"Trouble with your puppy?" he asked, taking a sip of tea.

Light glared at him from underneath his arm. "Go away, please."

L chuckled. "Suit yourself," he said, pushing off again and gliding back over the tiles. "It's more fun to watch from afar, any way."

Light looked like he was about to say something cutting, when the door banged open again and Matsuda came back in.

"Light-kun! They're out of your favorite brand! Would you be okay with another one?"

Light groaned again, very loudly this time. "I don't care about sugar brands, Matsuda, whatever you got is fine."

"I didn't get any of them, Light-kun! I didn't want you to be upset!"

"God help me…"

L laughed openly and sat back, quite prepared to sit and watch whatever happened next for hours.
