He was hidden amongst piles and piles of papers, translations of the Great Tablet. It had taken a month to break the language down, another to translate it, another to understand it. And from all these papers, all that time, came one thing, sitting in a Petri dish.

"What... exactly is it?" Valkog loomed over his shoulder, giant purple face blocking out light, obscuring the tiny squiggles in the dish. The scientist, Izel, moved it closer to his body, almost protectively.

"DNA, formulated from the tablet," he replied, standing and carrying the dish to a cleaner desk.

"What will it do?" Inevitably, the president of Zerard followed, dogging his steps.

"Well, we think it will create the perfect human."

"The perfect human? What does that mean?"

"Superior in every way, sir. Strength, intelligence... powers..." A grin lit up the president's face. Valkog liked this idea. "These DNA strands should be able to create the key to opening the way to Eden."

"Fantastic!" Valkog clapped, and the poor scientists nerves jumped. "Good work, Great work indeed! When will we be able to see some results?" The scientist saw no point in pointing out the obvious, the DNA in the Petri dish.

"A week, sir, we should have created a fetus. We already have a chamber assimilating a womb. Of course, there will need to be some... adjustments."

"Like what? How much will it cost?" Izel held up a stone, a small stone no bigger than his bitten, ragged fingernail. Rune. "Ah, that much?"

"I'm afraid so." Valkog seemed to think, but it was not about the money.

"Very well then, any funds you need will be transferred into your account. But I want to see some definitive results."

"Yes sir. Of course, sir." Valkog turned his back, and Izel smiled. Smiled down at his tiny creation.
