Will and Sonny were sitting on a blanket in the park having a picnic. There were champagne flutes filled up with sparkling cider and sandwiches from the Brady Pub laid out in front of them, while they fought over the containers of pasta and potato salad.
"This was a good idea," Will said, digging his fork into the macaroni salad.
"Mmhmm," Sonny said through a mouthful of potato salad. "Well, you said you never really had picnics when you were a kid and I know you were sad with your great-grandmother going away so I figured it would be fun for you."
"Thank you." Will smiled and gently kissed Sonny.
"I just hope it doesn't rain." Sonny looked up at the sky, which was getting darker by the minute.
"Eh. It threatens a lot but never rains," Will said, unwrapping one of the sandwiches and taking a bite.
Just then there was a low rumble of thunder and a few drops of rain started to fall onto their heads.
"You were saying?" Sonny said, jumping up and stuffing some of the food back into the picnic basket. "I can get this back to car and salvage it if I hurry."
"Go. I'll catch up to you," Will said, grabbing their jackets and scrunching up the blanket in his arms as the rain started to come down in earnest.
He hurried out of the park to the parking lot where Sonny was closing the back door of his car, the food safe and dry and salvaged for later. Sonny took the blanket and jackets from Will's arms, reopened the door, and threw them onto the seat.
Will was just about to run to the other side of the car when Sonny grabbed his hand.
"Wait."
"What?" Will said, blinking the rain out of his eyes.
"There's something I've always wanted to do."
Will blinked at him and was surprised when Sonny crashed their lips together. Will smiled into the kiss and wrapped his arms around Sonny's neck. They swayed a little as Sonny slipped his arms around Will's waist and pulled him closer. Their tongues slipped into each other's mouths and Will pressed their mouths closer, their lips slotting together with well-practiced ease.
By the time they breathlessly broke apart for air, their hair was sticking to their foreheads and their clothes were soaked all the way through.
Will grinned and asked, "What was that for?"
"Well, one, I love kissing you. And, two, I've always wanted to kiss in the rain. But now I really want to get out my wet clothes."
Will laughed and nodded.
