A/N: Dedicated to Alan Rickman, the amazing actor who portrayed Snape in the Harry Potter series. Only he could be Snape. RIP Mr. Rickman, may heaven be a wonderful place for you.

Home

I can't believe it. I'm dead.

Severus Snape watched above in an invisible, yet ghostly form as Harry Potter, the boy he had despised for the past seven years and yet trusted him enough to take his memories, stood from his position over the empty shell of his body.

I should've known that I would die at the hands of Voldemort.

Once Harry and his comrades left, Snape looked around the place he had died. Shaking his head, he wondered why Dumbledore had manipulated these events so he would be the one to kill the headmaster and be the one to hold the Elder Wand, the one Wand that Voldemort had sought for so long, and had torn from his grasp.

For some reason, he felt cheated. He never thought once that he would die in this horrible way, betrayed by the man he once respected through fear a long, long time ago and in some ways betrayed by the other man who had saved him from this evil.

He looked down at his hands and gripped them, fear coursing through his veins. He was terrified for the second time in his life.

The second time being the moment he heard his beloved Lily had been killed.

Where do I go now?

His silent question was answered in the form of a shaft of light that emanated from the ceiling. He turned toward the bright light and watched as a shadowed figure came through it. His eyes widened and his jaw dropped when he spotted the green eyes and the fiery red hair.

"Lily?" He whispered.

Lily Potters gave him a smile and held out her hand for him to take. He sighed in relief when his fingers slipped over her palm, grateful to finally be able to feel her warm, soft skin against his after so long.

He looked up into her bright eyes, "How…?"

Her smile brightened in response, "Magic, how else?"

"But…"

"I know. I'm here because you need me. Severus, my love for you may not be the kind I have for James, but you are in my heart just as I am in yours."

Tears filled up in his eyes as Lily took him in her arms, his wrapping around her. They held each other for a long moment, taking in the presence of each other. Lily pulled back gently. Snape looked at her.

"It's time isn't it?"

Lily nodded, "Yes, but I'll be here with you every step of the way."

Still holding hands, they turned towards the light.

He squeezed her hand and she looked at him.

"I…I'm…" He looked at her, unable to finish his sentence.

"It's okay to be scared. Going home can be one of the scariest thing about life."

He looked back to the light, murmuring, "Home…"

Lily smiled and stepped forward, pulling him along with her until they were both bathed in heavenly light. The light faded as they became shadows and disappeared. The moment they left is the moment the Wizardry World celebrated the death of Voldemort.

The End

RIP Alan Rickman
