The Perfect Night

Usual disclaimer applies, I still have nothing of value

Daphne streched out in bed, unfortunatley the empty space next to her remined her that once again their plans ahd gone awry. She and Niles had the perfect Valentines Day planned, they were going to spend the day enjoying each other's company and then go to Chez Henri for an intimate meal (Niles had given a generous "donation" to the restaurant after the incident with her parents).

But typically something had gone wrong. They recieved a phonecall earlier that morning to say that one of Niles' was on top of his apaertment building and threatening to jump, and that Niles was the only person who could stop him from going through with his intention.

There was a slight upside to Niles being out of the house for a while as she could wrap his presents as she hadn't had time to wrap them yet. Going into the spare bedroom she pulled the Seahawks bag out of the closet, thankfully her plan of hiding his presents in the bag that Martin's new Seahwaks jersey came in, safe in the knowledge that Niles would never look in anything with an NFL logo on it. After checking that both were fully intact she went up to the library, pulling out her copy of Slow Tango In South Seattle she removed the small sheet of paper from the back and slipped it into her pocket, this was Niles' surprise present.

Later on in the day the phone rang, it was Niles, evidentley the man couldn't cope being alone on yet another Valentines Day and therefore had decided to end it all. Thankfully he would be home soon and they could keep thier reservations.

When they had finished their main courses and were waiting for the dessert menu they decided to exchange gifts. He gave a locket with a picture of them on honeymoon, and on the back he had their wedding date engraved. She gave him a watch, and also a silver photo frame with the word Daddy on the top of the frame, and the photograph in the frame was the sonogram from her recent trip to the doctors. Confusion quickly spread over his face "Why have you given me a picture of a peanut?" he asked, as he noticed the grin on Daphne's face. The realisation suddenly dawned on him he was going to be a father.

"How long have you known? How far along are you?" he asked in an excited babble.

"Well I found out for sure yesterday and the doctor says I'm 7 1/2 weeks" she replied, almost as excitedly, "When are we going to tell your dad and brother?"

"I'd have thought we could tell them at brunch tomorrow, I did tell you didn't I?" The look on her face made it obvious he hadn't.

"Seeing as we have some great news to celebrate, I say we should go home and have an early night..." said Niles.
