If I had to dye what we had in a color,
It would be red.
There's the dead obvious reasons –
Red Mark. Crimson Dragon.
And the harder to notice ones, too
The splash of color that is my hair. Your apparel. The choking tie I wore undercover at the Academy. The flustered blush on your visage when I approached you.
The spark of jealousy and suspicion in the eyes of your twin. The searing hurt and disbelief you must have felt when you realized I was the one dueling you.
The flash of bright red light I almost killed you with that duel. The red hot fury that raced through me when I failed, smothering my slight undercurrent of relief.
Red is a symbol for anger, jealousy –
Love.
Yet, for me, the color red comes down to this.
The red blur you were as you crossed the street.
The red traffic light that was callously ignored by the drunk driver.
And lastly, the violent red splatter your blood left on the pavement.
On my broken heart.
To this day, those stains are still there.
The End
