Twas the night before Christmas and all through Hyrule
Not a monster was stirring, not even a ghoul
The stockings were were hung at Death Mountain with care
In hopes that the Goddesses soon would be there
Zelda and Link nestled snug in their beds
While visions of Deku Scrubs danced in their heads
And the King in his 'kerchief and Ganon in his cap
Had settled their brains for a long winter's nap
When outside the castle there arose such a clatter
Link sprang from his bed to see what was the matter
Away to the window he rolled like a flash
Tore open the shutters, and threw up the sash
The angry-face moon on the breast of new fallen snow
Gave luster of mid-day to objects below
When what to my wondering eyes almost did sing
But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny loftwings
With a little old driver so lively and wise
Link knew it a moment that it was Demise
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came
and he whistled and shouted and called them by name
Now, Dasher, now Dancer, Now Prancer and Vixen
On Comet and Cupid, Din, Farore and Blixen
To the top of the the drawbridge, to the top of the wall
Now fly away fly away fly away all!
As dry leaves before the wild hurricane fly
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky
So up to the castle-top the loftwings they flew
With a sleigh full of toys and Old Demise too
And then in a twinkling Link heard on the roof
the prancing and pawing of each little hoof
As Link drew in his head and was turning around
Down the chimney came Old Demise with a bound
He was dressed all in flame from his head to his foot
And his his was all tarnished with ashes and soot
A bundle of toys was flung on his back
And he looked like an adventurer just opening his pack
His eyes- how they twinkled his dimples how merry
His cheeks were like roses his nose like a cherry
His mouth full of fangs drawn up like a bow
And the beard on his chin was white as the snow
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth
And the smoke encircled his head like wreath
He had a broad face and a little round belly
That shook when he roared, like a bowl full of jelly
He was chubby and plump, like a demonic elf
And Link laughed when he saw him in spite of himself
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Soon gave Link to know that he had much to dread
He spoke not a word but went straight to his work
And filled up the stockings then turned with a jerk
And laying his finger aside of his nose
And giving a nod up the chimney he rose
He sprung to his sleigh to his birds gave a whistle
and away they flew like the down of a thistle
But Link heard him exclaim ere he drove out of sight
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
