Summary: Just another day in Purgatory for Dean. Title from Simon & Garfunkel's The Boxer.
Dean's down. Darkness prepares to claim him; the monsters are all there waiting; eager, ready to savour fresh human flesh. He knows he can't let go. He's so beyond tired, and the air is heavy with the iron tang of his blood.
Head hanging, sweat drips stinging into his eyes. He hears the lunge rather than sees it. On one knee, he brings the flint-edged club round; connects, buries it deep in howling guts.
He's done, that was his last effort. He pitches forward, face-first into bloody earth.
It's Benny's hands grabbing him, dragging him to safety.
He hates/loves it.
