The Beginning

His eyes were the prettiest green I had ever seen. His hair dark, yet sexy. A little short in height, but still perfect for me since I'm shorter than him. But there was something off about him, I couldn't place my finger on it but I knew it was something only he knew about.

He suddenly looked back at me; he had caught me staring at him. Shit, I thought; he had caught me staring at him for the second time today. I quickly averted my eyes from his to the tile of the floor.

"Elena?" I heard a voice say my name.

"Uh- yes?" I asked hoping Mr. Saltzman hadn't asked me a question.

"Can you please read the first paragraph on page hundred fifty-nine?"

"Oh um sure." I said feeling very embarrassed.

I quickly found the page he asked me to read, "James Madison, the fourth President of the United States (1809-1817), and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, was an American politician and political philosopher. The principal author of the U.S. Constitution, Madison is often called the 'Father of the Constitution.' The Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to the Constitution, is attributed to Madison, therefore, he is also known as the 'Father of the Bill of Rights.' Madison, a political theorist and a leader in the First United States Congress, authored over a third of the Federalist Papers, and was the first president to have served in the United States Congress. Madison's most distinctive belief was that the new republic needed checks and balances to protect individual rights from the tyranny of the majority."

"Thank you Elena, and please pay attention next time." He finished as the bell rung for the end of the day.

"Sorry and I will." I said staying in my seat to stay and talk him after everyone left.

After everyone left I admittedly went up to him.

"Alaric what can you tell me about Stefan?"

"Stefan, which Stefan?"

"Shut up, the only Stefan in the class, Stefan Salvatore."

"I know I was just messing around. Um not much since I just moved back to Mystic Falls."

"No you haven't, you been seeing Aunt Jenna for a month now. You're hiding something."

"Elena I-I can't explain it ok?" Alaric said turning around.

"Damn it Rick! Tell me right now!" I screamed stomping my foot.

"Fine you want to know so badly? Meet me at The Grill tonight, eight o'clock sharp." He glared at me.

I gave him a smug smile, "Thank you. Oh and Aunt Jenna said come by tomorrow, we're having cake and stuff, its Jeremy's birthday tomorrow."

"Got it. See ya tonight and tomorrow." Alaric said rubbing his face.

I grabbed my purse and school things and walked out of the class room. And then all the sudden I ran smack dab into a rock solid body, who happened to be Stefan Salvatore.
