Author's Note: I am in the process of writing Chapter 6 for The Secret Language of flowers, but I have the horrible creative disease know as writer's block. This is something short I wrote to try and overcome that horrible disease. I hope you enjoy it.

Disclaimer: I do not own Bleach.

Contemplation

Nanao wasn't tired or board, but she just sat there on the short bench in the Eighth Division's courtyard and sipped her tea. She had been at the Eighth Division for almost six months, and finally had a rare moment to herself. The courtyard was one of the things that most surprised her when she had first been transferred. It wasn't like all the other courtyards that she had seen. She had expected it to be like all the others, with an occasional tree for shade in the summer and a few flowers spaced about for decoration. However, it was vastly different. There wasn't just a few trees for shade, there was an entire grove of trees and they were all cherry trees. That was an exceptional site in and of itself, but that wasn't all. Along the stone pathway, situated every foot or so, was all kinds of different flowers. Large ones with small blossoms, small plants with large full blossoms. But what had caught her attention the most was the small diminutive flower at the middle of the courtyard. It was a Zinnia plant. There was only one blossom and in the entire six months that she had been here their continued to be only one. It's stem was about seven inches long and at it's tip was a ball of small petals. It's color was a white so pure that it almost hurt her eyes if she stared at it for a long period of time. At the base of the single white flower was a very small gold plaque. On it was etched only two words, but those two words were nothing short of profound. It stated simply, "Absent Friends".

Author's Note: I hope you enjoyed it. Zinnia actually means "Thought of Absent Friends" and it will make an appearance in SSOF. Please Read and review. I hope to have Chapter 6 up by Friday.
