TITLE: Lights
will guide you home.
SUMMARY:
The reaction Harry got to his words was Draco's body shrinking and
moving in a slight shudder. He felt the urge to hold him and make him
better, but he had to get his point across. He had to let Draco know
they couldn't remain together. He had to let him know they
wouldn't.
DISCLAIMER: I
only own the plot. If any of the characters were mine, I would be
swimming in a pool filled with gold coins.

LIGHTS WILL GUIDE YOU HOME
As he sat on the bed, Harry cleared his throat.
"You are breaking," his tone was flat, and his eyes were unfocused, but there was pure determination in what he said.
Draco didn't even look up; he didn't acknowledge anything Harry said.
"You are breaking, and it worries me."
Again, Draco chose to ignore his lover's words.
"This, us, it scares me." The vulnerability in Harry's voice was almost tangible, and he tried hard no to choke with every word, "I am afraid I've been trying to fix you for so long, that one day you'll be just too wrecked for me to repair. I can't glue all your broken parts together; I can't heal every one of your wounds."
Harry sighed, as he knew he wouldn't get an answer from Draco. God, he didn't even want an answer; all he wanted was a reaction, any kind of reaction really.
"I've held you when you cried; I've woken you from your nightmares, listened to all your fears and comforted you in every way I could. I've almost stopped time to be with you, and I would continue to do so for an eternity, if it helped you. But I'm afraid I'm not sure it is good for you anymore."
Draco flinched at these words, and his eyes found Harry's in fear.
"I'm afraid you are not any better now that when we first started, and that only proves I'm not good enough for you."
"You are more than enough for me," Draco stated.
"I am not, because even if I don't do you any harm, I'm not helping you to get better. I would even dare saying I'm an obstacle for you; I'm holding you back."
The reaction Harry got to his words was Draco's body shrinking and moving in a slight shudder. He felt the urge to hold him and make him better, but he had to get his point across. He had to let Draco know they couldn't remain together. He had to let him know they wouldn't.
"You do help me, you make me better."
"Don't lie to me Draco, we both know it is not true."
"But I need you. I can't keep going on my own."
The desperation in Draco's voice made Harry's stomach twitch. "Yes you can."
He had to sound convincing.
"You said it yourself, I'm breaking. I need you to catch me when I fall."
"But you also need to learn to get up on your feet again."
"I can get up on my feet, I can make it on my own, but that doesn't mean I'm getting better" Draco took a deep breath and then continued, "You can fix a broken bone, but you can't mend a broken heart."
"Maybe…" Harry trailed off, suddenly scared by the truth of Draco's statement, "I'm sorry Draco, but you are breaking, and I'm already too blind to be able to pick every one of your pieces when you finally collide."
After saying so, Harry pressed a soft hiss against Draco's lips and left.
"I don't need all of my pieces," he said to the already shut door, "You are leaving me incomplete anyway."
