Life hadn't always been wonderful for Tadase Hotori. Sure, most of his life had been. In elementary school he had been wildly popular. Most girls had crushes on him, and they called him their school's prince. In high school, he is still wildly popular and going out with the love of his life. That being said there was a time in his life where he was in a very dark place. Middle school.
In sixth grade Tadase had a huge crush on a girl named Amu Hinamori. They went out for about a month, before Amu dumped him for his cousin Ikuto Tsukiyomi. One week before grad. Through out middle school Tadase was as always, wildly popular. The difference was that all of Tadase's friends were in a relationship, and he wasn't. This made him a little sad, and for some reason made the fangirls start to stay away from him, and watch him from a distance. No one know what truly caused it but with the fangirls retracting, him being the only one single in his group of friends and his girlfriend leaving him for his cousin, by the time he was in eighth grade, Tadase was spiralling into a deep depression.
I know what you're thinking. 'This can't be true. Why would some go into a depression over those things?' Well the fact of the matter is; he did. The worst part is he put on a front. No one knew he was depressed. He would go to school, and laugh and smile like always. No one had any idea that when he smiled or laughed he was actually breaking inside. Not even his own guardian character knew, until a faint X appeared on his egg, and even then, he couldn't do anything about it. To make matters worse, his grandmother passed away a few months into the school year. That was just the last straw.
One night after everyone had gone to bed; Tadase got out of bed, put on the T-shirt his grandmother had given him for his last birthday, a pair of jeans, and socks and shoes. He grabbed his wallet and keys, and then snuck out of his house.
The next step was to take a bus. The sad thing is that no one looked twice at a thirteen year old boy taking a bus at three in the morning. Tadase rode the bus in silence. Thinking about what he was about to do. How it would affect people. He thought that his friend and family would be sad for a little while, but they would get over it. His only regret is that he had to take his guardian character down with him. Soon enough he arrived at his destination. The place where all this started. Where he planned to end it. His old elementary school.
When he was in elementary school, Tadase had been the king of the guardians. That meant he had a skeleton key to open ever door. Even after he graduated, he still kept a copy.
Using his key, he went up to the roof. The school had three floors and a roof. Great height for what Tadase had planned. What I've been hinting to this whole time.
Suicide.
