"You brought out the best of me,

A part of me I never see.

You took my soul and wiped it clean.

Our love was made for movie screens."

~All I Want, by Kodaline.

"It's not like I trust him. If he gets out of control, I'll be the first one to kill him."

Levi stared at the titan, remembering the day he said that. Levi was known to be a man who never made promises he knew he couldn't keep. In his defense, he never knew he would fall in love with the shitty brat. He thought he would just barely tolerate him, make him do all his chores. After all, that's really what should've happened.

What should've happened.

"Make your choice and live with it, Eren." Levi held his hand to his mouth, gasping. The bodies. They never bothered him. Until they had personalities. Names. Intrests. Petra. Auroro. Erd. Gunther. His eyes watered for the first time since Isabel and Farlan's death. He remembered telling those two incompetent brats to take the bodies off of the carts. Petra..Petra, Petra, Petra. The blood on her face. The way she died. It was all his fault. He could've done something. He could've saved his squad. He didn't. He just looked at them, beaten up and bloody. He wondered who died last. Who had to see all of this, only to meet the same fate? Who died first, leaving the rest of their squad broken?

"Make your choice and live with it, Eren." "Make your choice and live with it Eren." It replayed in his mind, over and over. Now he was looking at Eren again.

No, not at Eren.

He was looking at a monster.

He was looking at the person responsible for the deaths of 5 soldiers.

The roar. HIS roar. Him. Eren. The man he loved. Killing 5 innocent people like it was nothing. Like he didn't care...

Like a titan.

"We're going to wipe them out someday, Levi. Together." Eren grasped his hand. "I just know it." The older man smirked. "Don't overestimate yourself, Eren. You don't even know how to control this yet."

Control. No, he couldn't control himself. Levi reloaded his blades, sobbing. "Eren!" he screamed in his head. "Eren..."

"Rivaille!" "Heichou, kill him!" "Get rid of him!"

"Kill the monster!"

"Screw it." He heard one man mutter. He jumped off the building, attaching his manuevering gear grapple to Eren's neck.

Bite. He killed another one. Gasps of shock and cries came from the distance as Eren's hand swept through the roofs of the surprisingly unharmed houses of Wall Maria. Levi looked at Mikasa and Armin.

They were sobbing, just like him. Mikasa looked at the older man, her sobs becoming louder. She just nodded and said, "We have to. Erwin's not retreating."

He wiped the tears from his eyes, knowing what he had to do. He looked at Erwin, who, like Mikasa, nodded.

1.

He was dead.

The love of his life.

He just killed him.

He would never see those beautiful, green eyes again.

He would never ruffle that brown hair again.

He would never wake up and walk to the dungeon to say good morning to the brat.

A red flare was fired from the wall. The Garrison understood what had happened.

"I knew it.." Rico muttered. She felt responsible. Dot Pixis' eyes were wide. This was his fault. He stopped the rest of the Garrison from killing the boy. Then again, he did help humanity claim territory from the Titans for the first time. He wasn't sure if that made up for the even worse damage to the inside of Wall Maria, the thousands of soldiers who died in vain, and the six that the boy had just murdered. He was almost glad he was dead. Almost.

Levi stood on Eren's Titan body. He cut Eren's corpse out of the monster.

It was a terrifying and remarkable sight to see to all the soldiers around him. Levi was sobbing. Hard. He was hyperventilating, holding onto the boy's dead body. Levi let go, and pulled one of his blades out. He just stared at it. He had to do it. He couldn't live with himself. He just killed the person he loved most in the world. He saw Mikasa contemplating the same thing, and he rushed to the roof of the building she was on. "Don't. We need you." And with that, Levi did it. The blade went right through his heart. No one could stop him. No one knew it was going to happen. Erwin ordered an immediate retreat.

That was how Humanity's strongest, and Humanity's last hope died. It was romantic, but tragic. The world was never the same. Titan shifters came and went, but there was no one quite as strong as Levi. Not even Mikasa.
