Alrighty then, my second Arc-V fanfic! Which doesn't actually have Sora in it despite what I said at the start of my previous one. No, this is an idea for Yugo and Rin that I got after watching episode 62. You'll probably understand why after reading. But let's not waste any more time.
I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V! Let's Enjoy!
...
A repetitive and somewhat obnoxious ringing sound lodged itself into Yugo's ears and forced him to get up. 'Why did I build this alarm clock again?'' He said as he opened his eyes and reached for the snooze button. Despite his hate for the device, he couldn't just throw it away either since he had painstakingly built it from scrap that he found around the area. Back then he had thought of making one for Rin as well…but considering the sound it makes and the fact that Rin wakes up earlier than him anyway, he decided that it wasn't worth it. No need to annoy her more than he did on regular basis, not that he did that on purpose.
Yugo got up and looked outside the window and saw something which made him frown a bit. He could of course see the dull yard and few of the kids playing with a ball there, but he could also see some of the Tops area from this angle. ''Must be nice waking up in a soft bed and having someone make a big breakfast for you.'' Commons were lucky to eat as much during the day as the Tops did during their breakfast. ''Well, no point in dwelling in it.'' After all, he was going to get there someday, with Rin and they would make things better, they and the King. He was absolutely sure of it. ''I wonder if Rin is eating already.'' Yugo got out of his room and then locked it behind him. There were few other rooms across the row and opposite of his, all with similar-looking doors. The only difference was that each had a doorplate with the resident's name on it.
Yugo headed downstairs and saw some of the kids eating there. ''Good morning Yugo.'' They all greeted in a chorus, before getting back to their breakfast, a single plain bread, which they all eat slowly. It was important to savor the each meal you get as you never knew how big or small the next one would be. If there is one in the first place.
''Good morning. Have you seen Rin yet?'' As soon as he asked that, some of the kids chuckled a bit. ''What's so funny?'' Yugo asked with a raised eyebrow and some annoyance in his voice. He had a feeling he knew what this was about, but maybe for once…
''Concerned about your girlfriend first thing in the morning?'' One of the boys asked, making some of the other kids laugh and Yugo blush a little, though he tried to hide it by being mad.
''Oi, we have been over this many times. I and Rin are just childhood friends, nothing more, nothing less.'' Yes it would be nice to be something more, but he wasn't going to admit that in front of these kids.
''Right, big sis Rin is way out of your league.'' One of the girls said, making Yugo even more annoyed.
''You brats, I…'' Yugo was ready to yell at them when…
''Yugo!'' Yugo shut up and he gulped when he heard that voice. It's not that it was that intimidating, but he had been in this situation before. He looked over at the voice of the owner and saw the caretaker and owner of the building with a mop in her hand. ''You shouldn't yell at children like that.''
''I know, but they…'' Yugo started to say, only to be met with a glare that made him shut up once again. ''Right, I'm sorry.'' He wasn't feeling that apologetic, but he knew that he shouldn't yell at children, even if they teased him. Teasing him was one of the rare entertainment they could get after all.
''That's alright. Are you going to eat?''
''Later. I'll go and check on Rin and afterwards on our D-Wheel.'' Yugo said as he walked outside.
''So that means he won't eat.'' Yugo could sometimes work on hours to an end with his and Rin's D-Wheel. More than a few times he had even fallen asleep doing it.
''He and big sis Rin really should get together. They're perfect for each other.'' One of the girls said after finishing her bread.
''Really? I'd think Rin would just use him as her personal punching bag.'' Everyone was quiet after that, until they all nodded in agreement.
''You'd think that after a few times that would stop being funny.'' Yugo said to himself after stepping outside. ''Or at the very least, they could address me like they address Rin.'' Most, if not all the kids, referred Rin as a big sis, since she was always so supportive and kind to them. That, and most of them had no siblings of their own and wanted someone to look up to and Rin fit the bill perfectly. ''But I apparently don't.'' Yugo said while crossing his arms annoyed. Sure he was a bit impatient, a bit reckless when driving, had little to no social skills to speak of and embarrassed himself often, but that didn't meant that he couldn't be looked up on! Right?
''No, it's because Rin is an amazing person.'' Yes he admitted that he had feelings for her. Just a tiny crush though, that's all. He had no intention of telling her of course, not until the end of Friendship Cup. After all, if he confessed now, then they wouldn't be friends anymore and they couldn't enter the cup, right? At least, that was the excuse he kept feeding himself and he was already thinking of reasons to delay his confession even further back. During this train of thought, he had walked up to Rin's door and he knocked on it.
''Rin? Are you there?'' Rin had insisted that he always knocks before trying to enter her room, though Yugo didn't really understand why. They were childhood friends and best friends, what could he possibly see that Rin didn't want him to see if he walked in uninvited? ''Rin?'' He knocked again when there was no response and then he noticed that the door was open. ''Rin I'm coming in!'' He said that just in case and then he opened the door to see…no one in there. ''Huh, she's not here.'' He walked inside and then saw a note on the table.
''Out dueling, will be back later. Give my breakfast to one of the hungrier ones.'' That's what it said and Yugo smiled a bit as this meant that she was out dueling some Commons kids. Not everyone could afford a deck and many groups of children only had one or two decks to use amongst themselves. As such, Rin often went around dueling these kids that couldn't set up a duel by themselves. He used to do it as well…but the kids started complaining that he always won or that his Clear Wing Synchro Dragon is cheap. ''It's not like I want to lose on purpose.'' He was sure that Rin didn't do it either, but the kids had said that losing to her wasn't as bad, whatever that meant.
''I haven't been here before without Rin…'' It gave him a chance to actually properly check out the room for once. After all, why would he pay attention to the room, when he could pay attention to Rin? ''It even smells like her.'' N-Not that he went around smelling her. Nope. Last time they hugged, he definitely hadn't smelled her hair, nope. That would be creepy. ''I guess I should go work on our D-Wheel…huh?'' He was going to head out when he saw an item he hadn't seen before on the ground. ''What's this?'' He picked it up and looked at it. It was green in color and there were straps and cups on it. ''It's probably Rin's, but what is it…'' He couldn't figure out what to do with this thing, but he didn't like not knowing something about Rin so he swore to figure out what this mystery object that he had found was.
''They look like they could be goggles, but...'' He tried to put it on his head, with cups on his eyes, but quite obviously, he couldn't actually see through the fabric that well. ''These would be really inconvenient goggles. Besides, Rin prefers using helmets.'' Which was good since it was safer and he could drive a bit faster. Though he did try to avoid doing extreme tricks when they were riding together, tried. Getting Rin to hug him from behind was too good to pass up on, even if it came with her yelling him to not be so reckless. ''I don't think this has anything to do with D-Wheels.'' After all, they had worked on theirs so much together that surely Rin would have mentioned this item or at the very least he would have seen it.
''Is it related to dueling? Maybe she forgot it when she left? I should go and bring it to her!'' He was almost out of the door, but then he realized that he had no idea where Rin had went to duel. There were lots of kids in the Commons after all and she could be dueling any one of them. Besides, if it was that important then she would have come back for it anyway. ''Though if it is related to dueling, what does it do? Maybe it's an accessory to the Duel Disk or something…'' And that gave Yugo an idea. Now he knew exactly what this thing was! Yes, it was so obvious!
''It's a make-shift necklace!'' Yes, it definitely looked like it would go around the neck pretty well. ''Let's see…'' Surely Rin wouldn't mind if he tried it on. So after a while of messing with it, he managed to get it on with the cups in front. ''Well this definitely looks like it could be a necklace, but I dunno….'' It didn't really fit around the neck as well as he originally thought it would and there was still something off about it. ''It's still nice that Rin tried to make something like this. It's pretty well-made.'' She was really good with her hands, which came in handy when she helped him fix his bike or run other errands. ''Hmm, there seems to be a letter and some numbers here. I wonder what they mean…''
But before he could focus on them, the door clicked and Yugo turned around to see that Rin was entering the room. ''Oh Yugo, what are you…'' Rin's voice trailed off when she saw what Yugo had around his neck and quite frankly she had no idea how to react to this.
''Oh Rin! I found this thing on the floor and tried finding out what it is. Is it a necklace of some sort? As you can see, it didn't really fit that well and it feels a bit off. Maybe if the cups were bigger, so it would leave a bigger impression or something…Rin?'' Yugo interrupted himself when he saw the look on Rin's face or rather, the state of Rin's face. ''Rin, your face is completely red. And there's more steam coming off of you than from our D-Wheel the last time it broke down.'' Yugo laughed a bit, trying to liven the mood, but it was clear that Rin wasn't amused.
''You are the single…biggest idiot on the planet.'' Rin said as she walked closer to Yugo, making him gulp. Normally he wouldn't mind close proximity with Rin, but she seemed a bit…angry now. ''I can't believe you would do something like this!'' Okay, very angry. ''You don't have any manners or tact at all!'' Okay, downright pissed.
''So…this is not a necklace?'' Yugo laughed nervously and before he knew it, Rin had grabbed him by the neck, dragged him out of her room and thrown him out. ''At least tell me what it is!'' If Rin was mad about it then fine, but he at least wanted to know why she was mad.
''…It's a bra.'' Rin's face remained angry as Yugo's eyes widened.
''A bra? A bra!'' Yugo said frantically and then… ''What's a bra?'' At this Rin smiled, making Yugo think that she was going to explain, but…
''It's…'' One punch ''None…' Another punch ''Of…'' Third punch ''Your…'' Fourth punch ''Damn…'' Fifth Punch ''Business!'' Final punch and Rin slammed the door shut, leaving behind a very confused and very injured Yugo.
''You know, this is your fault for leaving the door open.'' He could practically feel Rin glaring at him through the door, making him shiver a bit. ''I'll…I'll go work on our bike. You can come help at some point if you feel like it.'' Yugo then limped away from the door to the garage where their D-Wheel was.
''I can't believe that he would…how could he just…argh!'' This was one of those times when Rin just couldn't think of a word to describe Yugo and for once it wasn't a positive thing. ''I mean, I guess he would have seen it eventually when we…no Rin!'' Rin's face turned entirely red again, although from completely different reasons than before. ''I can't believe that I almost thought of him and me like that…'' Rin sighed as she looked at the picture she had on her table of her and Yugo as kids and she smiled at it. It had been a lot more simple back then when she hadn't realized what she felt for her best friend.
Then she glanced at another picture frame, this one was just of Yugo as he is now and she felt her heart skip a beat. Like Yugo, she had no intentions on telling about her feelings for him. Considering how bad things were in the Commons, she didn't want to risk a broken friendship on top of all of that. Yes there was a chance of blooming and beautiful romance coming from it as well…but to her, that chance seemed far too low. Just because Yugo was affectionate with her at times, it didn't necessary mean that he liked her that way. It also doesn't help that he doesn't know when he has crossed the line, as today showed so well.
''In any case, should I tell him about what happened…''Rin looked at the ceiling as she said this. During her duels today, she had felt like someone was watching her and that feeling didn't disappear until little after the duels. She was pretty sure it wasn't the kids watching, the presence had felt far more sinister and she swore that her bracelet had tightened a bit when she felt it. ''This bracelet…'' All she could remember about it was that she had it ever since she was small, meaning it was probably a memento from her parents, whom she had never really seen. It looked like a pretty plain accessory, but sometimes Rin felt like it was much more than that.
''It could have just been my imagination though…'' She didn't want to worry Yugo for nothing. If she told him, he would pretty much always be by her side, ready to make sure she's safe…which doesn't actually sound like a bad deal, but she didn't want to inconvenience Yugo that way. ''Besides, if something bad does happen, I'm sure Yugo will be on it and rescue me.'' She had faith in her own dueling ability of course, but the presence had felt truly evil. It couldn't have been just an average thug, it had to be something or someone far more dangerous. ''I should think about something else, I'm just worrying myself.'' For now, she was going to ignore it. If it didn't happen again, it wasn't important. Then she looked back at the bra in her hands.
''I have to make sure I put away all of…this stuff so this won't happen again.'' Rin said to herself as she stood up from the chair she was sitting on. But she would do that later, since now…
''Hey Yugo.'' She said as she entered the garage and wasn't surprised to see him tinkering with their D-Wheel with a toolbox right next to him. ''Listen I…''
''I'm sorry about what happened.'' Yugo interrupted her, making her look straight at him as his eyes softened. ''I really shouldn't have invaded your privacy like that. It was wrong of me and I shouldn't have poked my head where it doesn't belong. Sorry.'' Yugo said with an honest, apologetic smile on his face, making Rin blush a little.
''Well as long as you understand that. I may have overreacted a little…sorry about some of those punches.'' She was only going to apologize for some of them. Considering what he did, she felt that at least half of her punches were justified. ''Just try not to do something like that with other girls. They might not be as forgiving.'' And she definitely won't be if she sees Yugo fooling around with another girl.
''Hug to make up for it?'' Yugo asked as he opened his arms wide…but Rin didn't respond and instead looked to her side, little embarrassed. She did want to hug him, but after what happened, she wasn't comfortable with intimate contact right now. ''Okay, no hugs.'' Yugo said with an awkward cough. ''Let's just get to work.'' He then turned back towards his second most beloved thing in the room, the D-Wheel.
''Of course.'' Rin got closer and crouched down next to him and then she remembered something. ''Oh, just one more thing.'' She said, making Yugo turn back at her. ''If you happen to find something with a waistband and holes where it looks like legs will go…don't touch them or you'll die, okay?'' The smile on Rin's face was very unnerving considering what she said, but Yugo just gulped and nodded, not wanting to invoke Rin's wrath again.
…
And it's done. Before anyone asks, no, I will not make a sequel where Yugo finds Rin's panties and she kills him. Sorry if I got your hopes up.
This actually ended up being longer than I intended and the whole bra mishap doesn't even seem like the focus of the story anymore. Well I wanted to write about Yugo and Rin in general so I suppose it works out…even if it's a bit difficult to write Rin since she hasn't made an actual appearance yet. Well, it's better than Ruri who we have known about since episode 18 and we have no idea what she even looks like…
Well no matter the end result, I hope you enjoyed it. Review if you liked, review if you didn't like!
