You Don't Love Me

By Charlene

Standard disclaimers apply

I'm lost beneath this curtain of hair,

Of neverending strands.

Your golden smile

Your painfully beautiful gaze

Don't move me.

It hurts to think

Every breath draws blood.

A liquid seeps into my heart

Like molten lava.

I look there and know my heart to be

Melting.

Ethereality;

I have seen it

I believe in it

Yet it is far from perfection,

Simply a marred shadow of

Something kicked behind and left

In the dust of loneliness.

My breath is leaving me now.

Wisps of hair still caress my face.

Even now I yearn to tell you

How I love you.

How my lust for you

Grows unceasingly.

But your gaze stops me.

Golden, brown, warm.

Where a fiery ember

Not that of Earth,

Nor of Heaven,

Nor of Hell,

Dances.

I think I have been imprisoned

Within it for the longest time.

Then your hair tumbles over me

A sea, a wave of at once

Stormy bronze.

Love you, love me.

No, you don't love.

You can't love.

And you don't love me.
