Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Rheneas and the Dinosaur" from Season 9. Enjoy and comment.

Rheneas and Skarloey are best friends. They love working together, and shunting freight cars in the yard as well.

One summer day, workmen from the Sodor Museum had found some very old bones called fossils.

When they put the fossils together, they made a dinosaur skeleton.

That day, a photographer arrived to take a photo of the dinosaur skeleton.

Thomas was asked to take the photographer to the transfer yards.

At the transfer yards, Mr Percival was talking to his engines.

"The dinosaur skeleton will soon be ready to go to the Sodor Museum." said Mr Percival. "I need two very careful engines to collect it."

Rheneas and Skarloey were very excited.

"We can be really careful." puffed Rheneas.

So Rheneas gently shunted some freight cars.

But Skarloey was too excited to be careful, and accidentally broke a freight car, coming off the rails too!

Mr Percival was not impressed.

"You both aren't careful engines! snapped Mr Percival. "I will have to choose two other engines to collect the dinosaur."

"But I can be careful!" said Rheneas. "Please let me try again!"

"Very well! But be careful!"

"Thank you sir!" said Rheneas happily.

Skarloey was sad.

"I'm sorry if I biffed the freight car." he said, "but I'm sure we can still take the dinosaur together."

"No!" said Rheneas. "I'm going to show Mr Percival that I can do it on my own!"

Later, Rheneas had to take some coal to the stations.

Even though the cars were heavy, Rheneas kept puffing on.

"I must take the dinosaur, I must take the dinosaur!"

When Rheneas returned, Mr Percival was very pleased.

"You have worked very hard today." said Mr Percival. "You pulled the heavy freight cars all by yourself. I'm very proud of you."

Rheneas felt very happy.

"As a reward, you may collect the dinosaur." added in Mr Percival, "but can you do it on your own?"

"Yes sir! I'm sure sir!" tooted Rheneas.

"Skarloey, you will collect empty freight cars from the timber yards." said Mr Percival.

"Yes sir." said Skarloey sadly.

Rheneas puffed happily though the mountains.

But when Rheneas arrived to collect the dinosaur, he was surprised.

The dinosaur was very big, but Rheneas thought he was strong enough to pull it.

He coupled up to the flatbed, and pulled as hard as he could back to the yards.

Rheneas tooted his whistle as he passed Middle Station.

Everyone clapped and cheered! They liked the dinosaur skeleton.

Rheneas was very proud.

As Rheneas puffed up a hill, the flatbed began to feel heavier.

Rheneas began puffing slower and slower, and then rolled back down the hill.

He could go no further.

"Oh no!" he moaned. "I'll never get the dinosaur to the transfer yards now!"

Rheneas felt terrible.

Then, he remembered about Skarloey.

"I wish Skarloey was here to help me!"

Skarloey was still on his way to collect freight cars at the timber yards.

As he came around the bend, he was surprised to see the dinosaur skeleton.

"Get out of my way!" tooted Skarloey.

Rheneas heard Skarloey.

"I need your help Skarloey! The dinosaur is too heavy for me! I can't pull it on my own!"

Skarloey was still upset with Rheneas. He didn't want to help,

"I was silly to pull this on my own!" puffed Rheneas sadly. "It needs two engines, and I need you! From now on, we'll always work together.

Skarloey felt much better, and buffered up to the flatbed to help his friend.

Together, they pulled the dinosaur safely up the hill, and all the way back to the yards.

Rheneas and Skarloey puffed happily into the transfer yards, just as Thomas arrived with the photographer.

The two friends has their picture taken with the dinosaur, and were delighted.

They were glad to be friends, and agreed that working with your friend is the best job of all.
