Normal Cats
.
.
Pharaoh was, after a fashion, a perfectly normal cat. He liked sunny patches and round, spherical things and yarn and scared with loud noises or flashes of light (and that wasn't always lightning) or forces trying to destroy the world (and that one was more an abnormality of Duel Academia than Pharaoh as an individual). His greatest abnormality was that his master was a ball of light that often spent its time tracking to his stomach and then out again. His second greatest abnormality was that he went on adventures with a guy only debatably human.
Of course, Pharaoh, being a cat, couldn't care less whether his companion (or one of, technically) was human or something else. But it bothered others, humans and duel spirits both. Not animals though. All animals liked Yuki Juudai for some reason, but Pharaoh sometimes thought he only liked him for the fish. After all, following Juudai meant following him into all sorts of trouble – and somehow or other, he'd escaped the whole Dark World incident too. His owner was disappointed. He was glad for the cat nap.
And that made Pharaoh a perfectly normal cat – especially considering the type of cats he met after leaving Duel Academy.
And he supposed he should have expected it, since Juudai attracted the weirdest beings. But crocodiles were at least earthly creatures. And duel monster spirits were duel monster spirits. And Ruby Carbuncle wasn't really a cat, he supposed.
But the one who called herself Tailmon wasn't an animal or a duel monster spirit, but rather a digital cat, whatever that meant. Looking for a Wizarmon, whatever or whoever that was, and Juudai had promised to keep an eye out and text her (however that worked, when she didn't have a phone, but contact details had appeared in Juudai's phone anyway) if he heard or saw anything. He never did, because he never caught a hint of Wizarmon's existence and so had nothing to report to Tailmon. And Tailmon never contacted them to say she'd found her friend, either, so both sides just kept on looking.
But that was after she'd tried to hypnotise them and then scratch them apart. Luckily – or unluckily – hypnosis only worked on Pharaoh in that little group.
And then there was the cat who claimed to be a human – something called a Contractor, specifically – in the body of a cat.
Then one who hung out with a couple of weirdos always trying to capture a yellow mouse. A scary yellow mouse, because it always scrunched its face up and created lightning.
Then one who babysat a princess and had a sparkly crescent moon on his forehead that couldn't be scratched out (and Pharaoh knew that, because he'd tried). And the girl reminded him of Juudai, oddly enough. The Juudai of the past, sill a child. Before he'd grown up.
And then there was the cat who became a woman, or the woman who became a cat – and as a cat himself, he should have been able to work out which it was but he could not. And the cat woman or woman cat whatever she was could use magic as well. Real magic that worked on duel monster spirits and humans and other monsters from neither world alike.
And compared to all that – he who was the container of his master and a tagalong on Juudai's adventure – was very normal indeed.

Post A/N: The cats in order are:
Pharaoh – Yugioh GX
Tailmon – Digimon Adventure/ZeroTwo/Tri/Xros Wars manga (ie. Hikari's partner)
Mao – Darker than Black
Meowth – Pokemon anime (ie. Team Rocket's meowth)
Luna, Artemis or Diana – Sailor Moon
Yorouchi – Bleach
Couldn't think of any others off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are plenty awesome cats out there.
