Claire thought she would sleep when it was all over. It wasn't happening. The nightmare wasn't anywhere near over, and the nightmares she had when she tried to sleep were worse, if that was possible.
Her real father was gone before she could know him, taking the only man she had truly trusted through this ordeal with him. She still had her adoptive father, and she still loved him. But they were in hiding, and her life was nothing like she thought it ought to be.
So she does anything and everything she possibly can just to keep herself awake.
