"I pushed you down deep in

my soul for too long."

Bring on the wonder – Susan Enan

She can't breathe.

She pressed her palms against the wall behind her in her office as she sunk to the floor, pressing her back firmly against the cold surface. Her breath hitched in her throat and she leaned her head back, attempting to take a breath. She closed her eyes, feeling them burn as tears welled up. Because this was real.

She can't breathe.

There are times when she looses herself in images. It's easier than facing death. Bones. She can't deal with it as well as the others can. She has images. Pictures of the before, and not the after. The after is what scares her the most.

Images are flashing through her mind. They make her chest feel heavy. They hurt.

She never expected to feel so much.

When she closed her eyes, she could still see it. Remember everything. The shiver that ran through her spine as he pointed at the swings. The smile on his face as he spun her on the swing, listening to her squeal. The feeling that curled in her stomach when he grabbed the metal connections and pulled her to him.

The feel of his lips on hers.

Emotions welled up and she opened her eyes, brushing away the stray tears that had fallen down her face. She couldn't do this. She couldn't stand not knowing. Not knowing if this was it.

She couldn't stand not knowing whether or not it could have worked out.

"Angela…"

She looked up and saw Zach standing at the door. "They sent us a message."

He exited and she stared, a lump gathering in her throat again.

Maybe they'd get their chance.
