I'm not sure if this is a dream or something I thought of as I was waking up this morning, but here ya go.
She watched his face as he came undone, tearing at the openness there. She could see every emotion flicker across his rugged features, and the uncontrolled passion took her breath away. "Cal." She said his name softly, lightly brushing slim piano fingers along his stubble line jaw. Her lips met his in a searing kiss before they parted to lie side by side.
Cal didn't look at her as he caught his breath, just stared at the ceiling of her guest bedroom sadly. They were both silent for a long time before she spoke.
"I'm so sorry, Cal."
"Don't be. I'm as much at fault here as you are."
"But-"
"No, Gillian." He said, looking at her for the first time, his hazel eyes intense. She just looked down; avoiding his gaze as she unconsciously tightened the sheet around herself.
"I should go, luv." He told her, tucking a strand of light brown hair behind her ear.
She wanted to tell him to stay. She wanted him to hold her and voice the feelings she saw in his eyes, but Alec would be home soon. And as much as he hurt her, she still loved him too much to do that to him.
"I'll see you at work tomorrow, Cal."
I completely agree with all of you that Gillian would never cheat on her husband, but at the same time, it seems kind of possible with Cal. Not exactly a relationship, but more of a fling because she's so hurt by Alec? I don't know, maybe it's just me.
