Noctis grimaced down at the plate his sister-in-law shoved into his hands. It was the most… cringing sight he's ever seen. Chocolate chip cookies were stacked upon each other, extra sugery chocolate chip cookies no doubt.

Serah and Light both shared a huge sweet tooth. Teeth rottenly sweet. And in this moment, in Serah's stress, she's been doing nothing but baking, and baking.

All these sweets were starting to pile in front of him like some sick horror movie.

He didn't know how he was going to make it out alive.

"I really don't know what went wrong," the younger pinkette uttered, coming back into the den with a plate of, oh dear Etro, angel food cake. That was it.

He was going to die.

"We were happy," Serah lamented on, sniffling, "we were getting along and then… I don't know… Noctis are you ok? I didn't see you eat a single thing yet."

"Uh," Noctis uttered.

"He's fine," Lightning cuts in, squeezing his knee. "He had a bit of a big lunch."

"Yes," he echoed.

"Oh," Serah uttered, perking when she heard a ding from the kitchen. "That must be the red velvet."

Noctis quickly set the plate of cookies away as Serah slipped into the kitchen. "Take a bite of something," Lightning hissed.

"It's sweet," he hissed back.

"My sister is in a mess—"

"And I'll support her but you can't expect me too—"

"Eat the damn cookie or we're getting a divorce."

He gaped, "Light, we're not having a damn divorce because I won't eat a sweet—"

"Sometimes I wonder if it was something I did," Serah cuts in, coming in with a red velvet cake in hand, frowning when she noticed the table was a little full. She settled with putting it on a near chair. She turned them, mouth open to ask, only to get cut off and Noctis vocalized, "Mmmhhh," the king assured, forcing out, "good cookie."

Staring at him for a minute, she smiled. "Aw thanks Noct, I needed to hear that. I'll make you more!"

"Oh wait no that's ok—"

And she was back in the kitchen.

Well shit.

"I'm going to need to get her out of the house," Lightning decided.

"And away from the kitchen," the king agreed, wrinkling his nose at the table of sweets. "Far away from all kitchens…"

"Hey babe."

"Yeah?"

"Thanks for braving the cookie."

"Anything for you babe… but I'm not finishing that cookie."

She rolled her eyes, taking his cookie and finishing it herself, both of them listening to Serah ramble on while she cooked.
