Chapter 1

The room watched as Voldemort fell to the ground in complete silence before erupting. Harry was surrounded by the entire school that still remained. Everyone was desperate to shake hands with him, to touch their hero. He tried to break away but kept on being pulled back by the sea of hands that grabbed onto him. He searched around as much as he could, searching for the only person he wanted to see. He could see Ron and Hermione were trying to get him away but with no avail. Just as he had given up he felt a hand grab his. He turned and felt his heart skip a beat as his eyes meet the familiar orbs of silver grey that he felt safe with.

Draco held his hand tightly, making sure not to let go. He could hear gasps around him as the raven-haired man pulled him close, nuzzling his neck. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Ron, Hermione and the other members of the D.A create a shield around them. Harry pulled away slightly, glanced around quickly before giving Ron a quick nod. He broke the circle, swept past Voldemort's body which still lay where he had fallen. Draco followed him, his hand curled around his replacement wand. He watched as Harry stood where the high table had once stood and turned to face the group.

"I know you're probably wondering what is going on. Draco was never a true death eater and neither was Snape. They were on our side from the very beginning. And also...",Harry paused briefly and allowed himself a quick smile to Draco who now stood beside him and then the rest of the DA who stood close to him, "Draco is my boyfriend. Tonight that doesn't matter though, although it should be a happy occasion with celebration, we must not forget those brave people who gave their lives for us. Tonight more than ever, we need to stand together." As the murmurings grew and the silence disappeared, he slipped quickly to the closest room as he felt his legs start to give out. Draco followed and made sure the door was securely locked. He felt arms snake around his body, pinning him against Harry's strong chest. He managed to turn around and cupped his lover's face between his hands. He pecked his nose gently, Harry's arms held him tighter. He placed soft kisses over his forehead, taking special care of the lightning bolt scare with its sore-looking skin surrounding it. As he ran his finger gently over it he felt Harry sway and lean against him.

"Harry are you okay?"

He made no answer but instead continued to sway on the spot. His skin had turned a grey color and he was shivering uncontrollably. Draco laid him down on the nearest bench, covered him with his cloak and checked his temperature with the back of his hand. His skin felt like it was being scorched on a frying pan. As he ran his fingers over Harry's face it felt as though they were being licked with tiny flames of fire. He rushed over to the door without a second's hesitation and began to unbolt the door, only to find himself stopped...by a smiling Harry with his cloak still draped over his body. Part of him was mystified and even angry but most of him was full of relief. He had come so close to losing him over the last couple of years, to lose him now...the thought was unimaginable. When he had first met him on that train all those years ago there had been an interest. An interest of this famous boy who was so powerful.
