"Well that was close" Max said after Robyn had gone back inside.
"Hmm" Zoe huffed, and snatched the rest of his chocolate out of his hand.
"Whaa?" he asked in shock.
"I need more choccy" She replied, biting into the chocolate.
"Come on, we'd better be getting back inside" Zoe turned to make her way downstairs.
"Don't I get a kiss goodbye?" he asked.
"Your face is too cold!" Zoe protested as they made their way downstairs.
"Rubbish" he pulled her close and kissed her on the lips. She shivered at the coldness of his lips, but kissed him back all the same.
"See you later" he smiled, then gave her a sly slap on the backside.
"I'll get you for that!" she growled before they parted ways.
The rest of their shift went by quickly, Zoe avoided going outside for a cigarette because it was so cold.
"Hello" Max let himself into her office at the end of their shift.
"Hey hey" she smiled, looking up from her computer.
"Are you nearly finished?" he asked.
The consultant nodded. "Yeah, I'm glad I'm not CL anymore!" she replied.
"Come on!" Max urged a while later.
"Why?" Zoe asked, logging her computer off.
"I have a surprise for you" he answered.
"Sounds ominous"
"It's not!" Max protested as Zoe got her coat on.
"Hmm" she grabbed her bag in one hand and his hand in the other.
They made their way out of the ED, hand in hand.
"I love you Zoe" Max smiled.
"I love you too" she stretched up to give him a kiss.
"I'm driving" Max said as they got to Zoe's precious Audi.
"Fine" she replied, hoping that he wouldn't crash.
Max drove them into town, and stopped in a carpark which was quite near the beach.
"Where are we off to?" Zoe enquired.
"Secret. Get out and follow me" he ordered.
"Okay…"
They made their way to a very classy restaurant, one of Zoe's favourite places to eat. They went inside.
"Max! You shouldn't have!" Zoe protested.
"Here" Max passed her a bag. "I bought you a new dress, go and get changed" he told her.
"Makeup?" she asked.
"It's in the bag!" he smiled.
Zoe got changed, re-applied her makeup, and looked for Max.
He was waiting for her, and had also got changed into tux.
"You look very handsome" Zoe beamed as he took her arm.
"I know, and you look beautiful" he replied, kissing her.
The couple's tender moment was interrupted by a waiter, who invited them to be seated and to take a look at the menu.
They sat down and made their choices, Zoe ordered some champagne for them both.
"Thank you so much for this, Max. It means a lot" Tears twinkled in Zoe's eyes.
"Anything for the woman I love" her partner beamed.
"I love you too. I mean it, Max. you've changed me, in a good way. I didn't think our relationship would be possible-how wrong I was" Zoe continued.
"Soppy-I'm happy for us too, though Zoe." Answered Max.
