It was dark. The lights were dim. The windows were closed, and the sound of thunder crashing against the clouds could be heard.

He waited. Waited patiently. Watching the clock as the minutes ticked by. Then he heard the knock.

"Master Wayne." Alfred greeted, standing in the doorway. "Master Grayson is here to see you."

"Send him in Alfred." Was Bruce's only reply. His back turned to Alfred as he gazed at the burning fire.

"Right away, sir." Alfred followed, stepping aside and allowing Robin to step in. He closed the door, leaving the two to talk.

"You wanted a word?"

"Take a seat, this is important." Bruce deadpanned.

Robin pulled up a seat, facing Batman. Surprisingly,Bruce looked away from Robin. Staring at the ground miserably, rather than his usual bat glare.

Robin frowned. "Is something wrong? Did I-did I do something? If this is about the mission,I-"

"It's not about the mission. Look,there's...there's something I haven't told you. Something which needs to be said."

"What is it?"

"I haven't been honest with you these last few years. I wasn't sure myself until the tests confirmed it-" Bruce began but was cut off by Robins questions.

"Haven't been honest? Confirmed tests? What tests?" Frustration lacing through his voice.

He sighed. "DNA tests...Listen Robin. Before you storm off,or do something we both regret. Let me explain."

Robin opened his mouth to say something, rage showing on his face, yet he kept quiet. He closed his mouth, realising that this was serious. He took a deep breath and leaned back in his chair.

"Fourteen years ago...a-a woman was raped." He gulped, pausing to collect his thoughts, trying to say this as lightly as he could. "That woman was..your real-biological mother." He paused again. Looking up at Robin, frowning. He saw the look on Robins face. The betrayal, the pain..the anger. But he continued. "That-that woman,she-she couldn't provide for you. She couldn't give you,the life you deserved-"

"The life I deserve?! You think,I deserve to risk my life everyday,in despair. Fighting things which people wouldn't believe existed, all to get some vengeance on my family's death? Or should I say fake family! You really think I deserve that?!" Robin interrupted. His rage taking over his voice. His face red with anger. He stood.

"Robin,I know this must be hard. But sit down...sit down and I can tell you the rest." Bruce calmly stated. Robin complied with his requested after standing for moments, with raging thoughts in his mind.

"Those people-the people who raised you-they weren't fake. They didn't pretend to love you or care for you or-" he took a deep breath. "They were your parents Robin. Blood or not, they took care of you, loved you, nurtured you...you were..their little bird."

Robin turned his head. Little bird. That use to be his nick name. His special calling...It was their name for him.

Bruce sighed, long and hard. "They couldn't...conceive naturally. They tried everything,IVF,surrogacy, even adoption..then you came along,in need of a home. They took you in,just like we did." Bruce reminded. "They didn't care if you weren't theirs by blood, you were still their son."

Robin listened faintly. His heart pounding so loud, his anger beginning to ease. He stared out the window. Watching as the rain stained the glass windows. As it danced across the glass.

His eyes softened. Thoughts of his family clouded his mind. He knew they cared,he knew they loved him. Memories flooded through his brain. Remembering the little things. Performances. Their iconic shows. He smiled to himself softly. But there was one question, reoccurring in his mind. One question that nagged at him. He began to tune in again. Bruce was just tiptoeing around it. Trying to make him feel good about himself. Reassuring him that his family loved him. He didn't need reassurance...what he needed was answers.

Robin cleared his throat. Leaning forward. "Who?...who are my real parents?" The question had been ghosting his lips for too long. Finally,he could get answers.

"You aren't going to like it. Are you sure you want to know?" Bruce asked, concern running deep, through out his body.

"I'm sure."

Bruce pulled out a file. Handing it to Robin. "Everything is in here. The case. The DNA test. Everything."

Robin reluctantly accepted the file. Taking a deep breath.

"Before you ask, there was no information on the father. By the time your mother pressed charges against her rapi-against the man,it was too late. All DNA had disappeared. Not even I could find a trace or lead."

Robin nodded. Unsure what to say. He opened up the file...

Mother: Harley Quinn

Father: Unknown

DOB: 28/7/99

Gender: Male

Blood type: AB

He didn't care what all the other information said. What he cared about was his biological mother. His heart pounded when he saw the name. His sight blurred. Only focusing upon her name.

Flash backs ran through his mind. Memories of past missions whilst facing the Joker and Harley. He always wondered why she went easy on him. Let him escape more than a once. Even if it meant she'd get beaten for letting him escape later, she still let him.

Then there was one memory. One memory which always stuck. He thought she was mocking him at the time. Being disrespectful due to recent death. But now he realises.

He continues to reminisce that memory. That one cold yet heart warming moment, when she turned around whilst escaping.

It messed up with her timing. She should have escaped a lot quicker. But she didn't. She risked it all just to turn around and call over her shoulder...

"Goodbye,little bird."

An: and fini. Okay what do you think? Is it good? My first Robin centric story. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it. What a plot twist. Anyway I apologise for any grammatical mistakes or if it doesn't make sense. Please review.
