Icy eyes scan the abandoned field. Mist creeps over the dew covered grass with an eerie smokey blue glow. Crickets chirped nonchalantly, as if nothing ever happened. The creature with deadly eyes moved forwards, blood dripping slowly off he sharp, cool steel blade of a dagger, which was held in a sweaty hand. The transparent blanket covering the field parts as the night-stalker begins the journey toward the road.

Morning screams its way into a dark colored room. Posters of vampires, dragons, and faeries splatter the room with a bit of much needed color. The maroon comforter shifts, showing life in the drab room. A shrill cry vibrates the room. A dark haired girl bolts out of bed, half asleep, hair out-of-order.

"I'm uuuppppp..." She whines.

She drags herself to the evil monster that woke her up and smashes a fist onto the SNOOZE button. She shuffles to her closet and pulls out her school uniform: a dark grey jacket, a white shirt, and a grey red, white, and yellow pleated plaid skirt. She grabs a towel from her personal linen closet and heads toward her bathroom. A soft click notifies her room that she's in the bathroom. Running water is heard and then the familiar slide of plastic on metal. After a good half-hour, she comes out of the bathroom, dressed and smelling fresh, ready for another day at the dullest school on the planet. She grabs her bag and walks to her dresser. She traces her pale fingers across the smoothness of her small scabbard, used to hold her razor sharp knife. She picks it up, holding it like it was as fragile as thin glass. The girl, Xarei, lifts the back of her jacket, and slides the dagger under the waistband of her skirt. Making sure it was secure, she puts her bag over her shoulder and walks out of the room.

"REEEEEIIIIIIIIII!!" A male around the age of 17 screamed once he saw Xarei's black hair. The girl smiled.

'Good Ol' Corey'

She waves and he runs up to her. She only reached his mid-chest and he looked intimidating to her, even if he was the sweetest, most harmless guy in the world. His red hair and deep blue eyes could melt any girls heart, yet it was his smile which drew most to him. It was a smile you couldn't help but smile back to. He was to turn 18 in a month or two, and he made sure Xarei remembered. He poked her arm and she poked back.

"Hey you!" He smiled.

"You big lug, you are 20 times bigger than me...and you still poke me like we are back in elementary school," She playfully punches him.

He falls to the ground and acts like he was knocked out cold. She blushed red and told him to get off the floor. By now, everyone knew he was nuts, so instead of paying attention to the gigantic guy on the floor, they all walked around him. He stood up, took a few gracefull bows and grabbed his imaginary Oscar, thanking everyone and everything. Rei laughed. He pushed her, which almost knocked her clear to the other side of the hall.

"Dude...when did you get those?!"

She looked at him puzzled.

"Ohh...these.."

She smiled again and pointed to the long sharp canines which were way longer than a normal humans.

"I got these last weekend. Aren't they cool? Everybody says I look like a vampire...why not try and be one?"

Rei gave him a smirk and did her best Dracula immpression. He laughed. He makes his small friend smile again and he touches the smooth white surface. A buzzer goes off over the intercom and everyone hurries to class.
