Aeris is one of my favorite characters, she's so unique and reminds me a lot of myself.

Cosmo Canyon is also my favorite location in FFVII. I don't know why, but I love the music there too.

This is really just random drabble, with nothing too significant. I just think Aeris and Cosmo Canyon are awesome and I wish they spent more time there. This is also my first FFVII fan fiction, so please be nice. I'm halfway through playing the game but I've admired this story for a while now.

Sitting by the huge fire, and listening to the steady rythm of the drum, Aeris's green eyes took in the natural beauty of Cosmo Canyon.

Of all the places she had been to in her short travels, she felt the most comfortable here. It wasn't surprsing: being a Cetra, she felt the safest when she was closer to the planet, to the point when the two would converse. It was a huge change from the slums of Midgar, where she had the least connection with the planet, what with all the Mako energy in the air.

The beauty of Cosmo Canyon was hard to describe. She imagined this was the way her ancestors lived: living in peace with nature, in no need of technology. Someday, when all this madness ended, she would come back here. She would come back to be one with the planet again, to live in harmony and peace. Someday, when Shinra calmed down, maybe even put out, the planet would tell her that it was happy once again.

Her eyes swept over the party; her friends. Barret, who she knew hated Shinra with every fiber of his being, was as much in awe as Aeris was with this place. He was definately no Cetra, but she knew he had the same ambitions as she did. Her eyes passed Yuffie, who she saw was rather bored: Aeris giggled, knowing Yuffie lived out of a city as well, ambushing travelors who trespassed on her forest. Tifa was gazing into the fire, although Aeris failed to notice Tifa glancing up to look at her occasionaly.

Cloud, too, stared at the fire momentarily, before closing his eyes, breathing and taking in the sound of the native instruments of drums and flutes. All was calm as they listened to the native music of the canyon, calm for once, before they had to leave, and return into the hectic battle against Shinra.

Aeris let out a small sigh, but smiled. One day, it would be like this, not only for a day, but forever. When the battle was fought and overwith, Aeris would sit here, not anticipating the next actions of Shinra or Sephiroth, but relazing, laughing about the hard times they endured, and how they fought their way through. She would sit here peacefully with the planet, and she would tell Cloud and Tifa and Barret and Red and everyone else of the planet's secrets, and how it spoke to her, and what the planet told her. But for now, she simply kept slightly alert. Many more times awaited her and friends, right?

If only the planet had told Aeris then what awaited her. Maybe then, she would cherish this moment with her friends and her planet even more so.
