Hi all! So I thought I would try and switch it up a bit and do a little piece on HSM.

I don't know about you…but I'm tired of the G rated movies.

I'm not going to make this raunchy or anything, I just wanted to make the characters and the situation a little realer.

It was freshman year at Stanford University. Gabriella and Troy were still going strong, even though they missed each other like crazy. Gabriella still stayed in contact with some of her close friends from East High including Taylor, Kelsey, and even Ryan. Gabriella was fortunate enough to be sharing a room with one of her old friends from a previous school, Chloe.

"Gabs, what exactly is the story with you and Troy these days?" asked Chloe.

Gabriella rolled over onto her back, picked up a picture of her and Troy together and looked fondly at her boyfriend.

"What do you mean?"

"You only see each other on the weekends, and when you do see each other, you always surround yourself with lots of people. Don't you ever just want to be alone with him?"

"We have alone time…"

Chloe sighed in frustration.

"Gabriella. You know what I mean."

"It's not really like that with Troy and I."

"No kidding. It's like watching a PG movie."

Gabriella sat down the picture and sat up on her bed. All traces of humour had disappeared.

"Sometimes it feels that way. I don't know what it is. When I'm around him, all I want to do is hold him and kiss him. I would love to spend more alone time with him, but I feel like he's holding back."

"Why would he be holding back?"

"I don't know. Maybe he's afraid."

"Then maybe you should find out."

"Maybe you're right."

Chloe picked up a throw pillow and flung it at Gabriella.

"Of course I'm right. Trust me. Boys only want one thing."

"Chloe!"

That night as Gabriella was getting ready for bed, she heard a familiar ring tone. After having that conversation with Chloe earlier, Gabriella did a lot of thinking.

She was tired of feeling like she was being too safe. She was a university student now and she decided it was time to up the antics.

She flipped open her cell phone and pushed the send key.

"Hey there sexy."

On the other end she could hear Troy choking on her words.

Your move.

"Hi there. What are you up to?"

"Just getting ready for bed, wishing you were here with me."

Come on Troy, take the bait.

Silence.

"Well I won't keep you then. I just wanted to say goodnight."

Sigh.

"Goodnight."

That night, Gabriella went to bed feeling restless and confused.

Is Troy not attracted to me?

Does he only see me as a buddy?

I want a different kind of relationship, and I'm going to get it.

Gabriella had always been a determined girl, when she set her sights on something, she was going to follow through.
