Axel wasn't really the patient sort, and especially not when it came to waiting after school to get home. But everyday, Roxas had some sort of club he had to do, or community service at the school which resulted in him waiting an hour to two for the blond. The redhead ran a hand through his gelled hair as he spotted the sophomore emerging from the building, chatting with another blonde girl wearing leggings and a skirt of some sort. "I only see skirts that go to the knees with your friends, babe." He smiled at the boy as he climbed in before starting the car. Roxas' parents had been reluctant to let him ride home with the older boy due to the way he dressed, but Axel's parents were normal enough. Really normal, actually. It drove the older teen up a wall.
A cacophony of drums and guitars emerged from the speakers as the backed out of the parking spot and Roxas' hand shot forward to turn it off, "Sorry, you know I don't like your music."
Axel gave him a disgusted look, at least Roxas was admitting it was music now. At the beginning of freshman year, he was calling it trash, "You will never appreciate true art, you hipster."
"Just because I like the soft side of things doesn't mean it's not just as good, Axel dear." He quipped. There had always been differences between the two, and there always would be. As they started home, Roxas let the redhead concentrate on driving and made a game of counting them off. Roxas dressed in light colors; Axel's wardrobe could be summarized by the word black. Roxas hated screamo or anything that couldn't gently play in the background while he worked on homework; Axel lived for Alice Cooper, The Misfits, and several other bands that the blond was even embarrassed to pronounce. ("You listen to a band called Alien Sex Fiends? What the fuck, Axel.") There also came the difference of diet, friends, what they planned to do with their lives after high school. As they pulled up to Axel's house, Roxas slipped out of the car and to the door to unlock it, "Axel, my show is on tonight. We can watch it, right?"
The redhead nodded, "Sure." He wasn't really into the nerdy sci-fi stuff the blond liked. He could sometimes get into the plot and the characters, but he mostly just sat down and put his head in Roxas' lap so he could get his hair pet. They had a few shows in common that they both liked, but Monday was distinctly Roxas' show, and Thursday was Axel's.
"Did you do your homework while I was doing Key Club?" He dropped his backpack with a thump. Axel nodded and headed to the kitchen to get some food in his body, "Was your day alright?"
"Marcy Lewis punched Colby Colturn in the face and there was a fight in the yard. Then I went with Bobby Mercy to the field and we messed around." Oh.
Messed around didn't mean sexually, though, and Roxas knew that. "Just because it's legal to smoke pot, doesn't mean you should skip school to do it."
"My grades are fine, mother dear. One day won't hurt." The blond appeared beside him and grabbed a couple of the pretzels he was eating, "Little stealer. You act like you're not hungry, but here you are." Axel laughed, leaning down to peck his nose.
Grabbing his t-shirt and pulling the older boy into a kiss, the blond nuzzled him, "Come on, let's do something."
"Like what?" The redhead teased.
Eyes widened when the younger boy began to pull away and undo his shirt buttons, "I'll see you upstairs in your room." Roxas purred, "Maybe for reading comic books. Maybe for playing video games. Maybe for something else."
Trying not to swallow his tongue, Axel nodded. They may have been plenty different, but they had enough in common.
