Christmas Song Rewrite

By: Lilly Rae

AN: I wrote this Christmas of 2007 and only got around to typing it up today. Sorry.

Lizzie, Edwin, and Marti were practically giddy with overflowing excitement on Christmas morning, even after all the presents had been opened. They were about to let loose the biggest secret that they had perhaps ever known.

"Daddy, Nora, we have a surprise for you guys," Marti said with a giggle as she got up, Edwin and Lizzie following in suit.

George, Nora, Casey, and Derek all looked up from where ever they were sitting, Derek in 'his chair', Casey on a pile of pillows and cushions beside him on the floor, and George and Nora on the couch.

Edwin, Lizzie, and Marti looked at each other with a smile before turning back to their 'audience' and starting.

"We saw Casey kissing 'Derekus'/Underneath the mistletoe last night./They didn't see us creep/down the stairs to have a peek./They thought that we were tucked up in out bedrooms fast asleep./We saw Casey tickle 'Derekus'/Underneath his shirt so snowy white./Oh, what a laugh it would have been, /If Maxi had only seen/Casey kissing 'Derekus' last night!" the three sang, giving the big finish their all.

Nora and George looked like they had gone into shock, where as Casey and Derek were blushing profusely and Casey began to giggle nervously.

"Well....um...You see, we were going to tell you that we like each other....Eventually...But, I mean, it was just kinda always there and then, last night it just kinda....came out?" Derek explained with a nervous laugh, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand.

George and Nora recovered from their shock and turned to each other, a questioning look on their faces as the question of what to do next hung in the air between them.

"Well..." – George "I guess..." – Nora "That it's....alright?" – both.

"BUT, there has to be some new ground rules. No being in the bedrooms with the doors locked, or at least not when you're alone together... Um, Nora, what else?" George asked, turning to his wife.

"Nothing that would be appropriate in front of Marti."

George nodded, and then, with a tired sigh, said, "I guess that I'm going to have to go over 'the talk' with you... again, Derek."

Derek's face scrunched up and he rolled his eyes. "Dad, please. You don't need to give it again. Spare us both. Plus, they cover that at school," he said, his expression still pained with the horrification of the moment while Casey had to hold her hand over her mouth to keep from laughing too loud.

Derek was now crimson red, Casey looked like she was about to wet herself from holding back her laughter, Marti was giggling, and Edwin and Lizzie smiled widely at each other before high fiving. Finally, Casey stopped laughing to look up at Derek with a serious expression on her face.

"Derek, stop being such a baby. Now we can do this without the others freaking out too much," she said, sitting up higher on her knees, turning towards him and pulling him down by his shoulders, his lips meeting her own for a few short, blissful moments before he pulled back.

"Case', you know I have a thing against PDA," he said tersely.

"Yeah, well, I don't," she said, kissing him again. And judging by the way he reacted, nobody thought that he minded too very much at this point either.
