A/N: Hope you likey! I'm working on another FanFic at this time, I've had the idea awhile now. Hope Kai's not to much of a Mary-Sue.

Run. The voice said. I obeyed. No, faster., it said. I thought I was going fast! Okay, time to pour on the speed. Keep running, faster! Uh-oh, This was bad. I ran with all my speed and a little more before unwillingly collapsing on the treadmill.Nevermind, you're useless! Karin, go prepare number 46! It said briefly before Karin grabbed me, putting me back with the others. Grabbing the blond girl next to me, he left.
Miyree limped over to me, turned, and said "Kai, you feeling alright? Usually you outrun the treadmill." I turned back to her and said "Yeah, well, usually they don't put me on it three times a day." Guess now's a pretty good time to tell you about me.

I'm Kai. Me and a bunch of other kids-about 50-stay here. Actually, when you've 'stayed' here two years, it's more like living here. Mainly, they tell us it's a home for 'Special Children'. 'Special' is a massive understatement. My only friends are Miyree, Spiryll, Ryker, and Shamble. Miyree was a failed Eraser. The wrong wolf genetics were inserted wrong, giving her snow white hair and red eyes. Shamble is extremely secretive about her past. Me and Miyree both grew up in the Institute, until a group of bird kids-bird kids like me, wings and all-saved us. Spiryll's fast. Really fast. The weird thing? He was born that way. Itex took him when he was three. And Ryker's pretty much Superman. I mean, seriously, flying with no wings, invisibility, heat vision, and a whole lot more.

I guess I should get back to the story. Miyree then said "Don't crack, okay? Promise me that?" Crack is when you work so hard, you freeze up. We had a friend named Jinnei who Cracked. She and Miyree were really close, so she's always worrying that I'll Crack. "I'm fine, okay?", I reassured her, though I was more reassuring myself than her. "Whatever.", She said, just as Shamble walked up and said "Kai, Karin's coming for you." Right on cue, Karin opened our door and shouted "45, get over here!" When I was new, I used to try to run through the door when he opened it. Now it just seemed pointless.

I got up and followed him as he led me down the familiar hallway. Except he didn't turn when he passed the Treadmill room. He didn't even stop at the Trampoline room, where they sometimes let us play. He kept walking to the end of the seemingly endless hall. To the blue door with the words 'Myron Calic, Head Man'. "Dr. Calic is waiting" Karin said, calmingly into my ear. I'd almost forgotten he was here. This was it. I was finally going to meet the man in charge. The man behind the voice. The man keeping me locked up here. And I was ready.

A/N: Meh. Tell me what you think. I don't know if I should write more. -ZuZu
