(A/N: Another drabble. This drabble was to be prompted by the name "Narcissa Malfoy" and had to be under 300 words…mine is 367…opps. Enjoy)
She jumped as a voice called their names through the iron doors. She stood, still clutching Draco's hand, and followed her husband through the doorway. Her eyes searched the crowed as she took her seat before a table of wizards. Not seeing the face she desired her eyes went to the wizards who would decide their fates and saw that the head of these proceedings was the minister of magic himself, Kingsley Shacklebolt.
"Lucius Malfoy, you and your family have confessed yourselves as Death Eaters. You are here today for this council to decide the appropriate punishment for your crimes." He paused. Narcissa feared the worst. "I have here a letter from the hand of Harry Potter. In it he describes a series of events taking place in the Death Eater camp on the evening of Voldemort's fall. Mrs. Malfoy," he addressed her, "is it true you knowingly lied when Voldemort asked you if Harry Potter lived?"
"Yes," she said quietly.
"Why did you lie?"
"He told me that my son was alive."
"So you worried more for the safety of your son than the success of your master?"
"Yes."
"Very well." He whispered for a moment with the four other wizards who sat around him then settled himself again. "In light of this new evidence and the fact that Harry Potter himself appealed for leniency in this case this council has decided that you will not be sentenced to Azkaban. However your punishment shall be that you are to surrender one third your wealth to assist in the rebuilding of Hogwarts and one third to the memorial fund to assist the families of those who so bravely died there. Is that understood?"
Lucius nodded. She could tell he was relieved by such a light punishment.
"Then the council is dismissed." The minister stood and approached the Malfoys. "Mr. Potter asked that I give you these," he said handing letters to both Draco and Narcissa.
She opened hers and smiled.
"What does it say dear," she asked her son.
"That's three times Harry's saved you." He read, "It's signed Ron Weasley. What's yours?"
"It only says 'Thank you,' though I should be saying the same to him."
