Puffy white clouds made their leisurely way across the sky, sunlight strong and bright as it brought radiance to the campus of Beacon Academy. Warmth and an overall feeling of peace had settled over the grounds, leading to what most would call a lazy day. Sunlight playfully flickered through the leaves on the trees scattered here and there, one in particular being the spot where two second year students were currently tucked away, enjoying the weather and company of one another as they reminisced about the missions they had been on.
Like the rolling of the clouds their voices were soft and unhurried, warm as the sunbeams peeking through the branches to catch a glimpse of the pair. Perfectly contrasting one another, one garbed in the colors of fire, lithe and lean, and the other like the frozen ice, stalwart and strong. The silver haired female leaned her head on the male's shoulder, her fingers absently coming to tease along the length of the scars she knew so well. He hummed quietly, eyes closed as he enjoyed the light sensation.
In the beginning, it had left him mystified. She seemed to take a great joy in tracing the imperfections on his skin, which he could not see but knew without a doubt that's what she was doing. Why, he hadn't a clue, and while at first it had left him self conscious and doubting as to whether she saw him a 'whole' for having them, now it was a source of comfort as she diligently crossed each one, often murmuring affectionate phrases under her breath she knew he could hear. There was a smile in her voice as suddenly she moved her head, and then placed a light kiss to one of the scars on his shoulder.
A light breath of air left him. Always, always it took him by surprise when she did that. When she decided her fingers were simply not enough and began pressing her lips to each and every mark that she had access to. In his opinion, it felt more personal and intimate than when she simply traced them, able to feel the love behind each action, especially when she mouthed things like "You are perfect" or "How far you must have come" against his skin. It made his chest feel tight with joy and words he could never manage to say.
It didn't matter to her. She was more than content just staying at his side, no matter where they were. Days like this were too few and far between in her mind. A delighted warble echoed in her throat when he nuzzled into her wild mane, something she let no other do. In truth, they were both scarred, physically and emotionally, shaped and molded by their pasts into the warriors they had become. And the solace found in each other was a rare and beautiful thing. The wild silver felt him smile as a kiss was placed on her temple, and she too let her eyes close in bliss. Whatever tomorrow would bring, it wouldn't ruin the happiness they had found.
