The woods were dense, I walked along the beaten up path. I shook my head, cursing under my breath. Only, I would happen to get lost. My dumb cousin was no where to be seen. Uncle Billy wanted me to get him, something about needing a ride to see Charlie.
"Jacob!" I hollered. I stopped at a fallen down tree. Sitting down I took a deep breath.
The sound of the trees rustling to my left filled my ears. Oh, crap. I'm going to be raped, or worse killed! "I have pepper spray!" I said loudly.
I reached into my parka pocket, like I was grabbing the non-existent pepper spray. A small chipmunk scurried from the bush. "Damn." I muttered to myself. I turned around and walked back the way I came. The sun was already setting behind the trees. Great, now I am really dead.
I wandered around the forest, as the sky grew darker and darker, and the air got colder. I was shivering as I saw a light up a ways. I walked quicker, closing in on the light. As the glowing orb came into view I saw Sam Uley's pick up truck sitting in the driveway. I walked towards the door and knocked.
The door opened and Sam was in the doorway. "Julia? Everyone's looking for you!" He said.
"I kind of got lost." I mumbled. He chuckled.
"Come in, I'll give your Uncle a call. You must be freezing." He said. He handed me a blanket as he walked to the phone. I thanked him, as I sat down at the table. His house was warm and smelled like smoke. It was hard to believe that Sam didn't have a wife.
"He is sending Jake." Sam said, he sat down across from me.
"Thank you. I guess it's been a while since I have been in this side of the reservation." I said, Sam gave me a small smile.
I heard a honk, "That must be Jake. Thanks again" I waved good-bye and walked outside.
I sat in the livingroom at my Uncle Billy's house. He wheeled into the room. "Julia! What were you thinking? Everyone has been looking for you."
"I'm sorry, Uncle Billy." I said. "I got lost."
"Just, be careful next time." He sighed. I nodded and went to the guest room. My parents both passed away and I was sent to live with my Uncle Billy and his son Jacob. I laid on the small twin bed as I stared out the window.
I drifted off to sleep with the feeling of happiness.
Snow began to stick to the grass, as I ran towards the man.I couldn't see his face. His arms were wide open, he had a smile on his face. "Come on, Baby." He said. I jumped into his open arms, he held me close to him.
"Let's go home." He whispered into my hair. I giggled and answered.
"Sounds great."
"Julia! Come on, we have to go to town!" Jake yelled. I groaned and stood up. I quickly changed into some clean clothes.
"Coming!" I replied. I walked out to the truck, and we drove to town.
I sat in the passenger seat, as Jake pumped some gas into the old truck. I began to think about my dream, what did it mean, and who was the guy. His face was blurred, his voice sounds familiar.
"So, we have to get a few things for school. Then, some food. Do you want to do anything else?" Jacob asked.
"Yeah, can we stop at the bookstore?"
