Grace is afraid of the sea but she doesn't want to tell her brother because her brother really wanted to take her fishing that day, Conner got out of bed poked Grace and told her to get dressed because they were going to head out fishing earlier than expected. Grace and Conner took the boat and hauled it into the water, Grace held the basket with their lunch in it just in case they stayed out late, but Grace and Conner's father requested that they be back before lunch, but Grace new Conner, he would stay out as late as he could and come up with an excuse when their father asked what had kept them, but little did they no they would not be seeing there father that day. As Grace thought, they returned home around 3:00 in the afternoon, Grace who always loved to see her dad rushed into the house she called her dads name more than once, she checked all the rooms upstairs and downstairs, she told Conner that he must of gone out, Grace took her book and sat on the downstairs couch waiting for her dad to return. About 3 hours later Grace started to worry, she started pacing, about half an hour later there was a knock at the door, Grace rushed to the door and yanked it open, it was her neighbor, she asked if she may come in and have a little talk with Conner and Grace, she held a pink handkerchief she kept wiping her eyes, Grace and Conner sat side by side on the couch waiting for the woman to speak, she stopped crying and looked at them both, "I am sorry children, but your father has, well suddenly passed away." Grace immediately started weeping, Conner shot off in the direction of his room, Grace walked over to the door, she opened it wide and said "we need are time you are free to leave now" the lady seemed shocked but moved silently from the couch and out the door, without another word.
