"Marry me, be my Queen. I refuse to be King without you by my side. Marry me." Now that you know where the story is headed, you'd probably like to know how it got there. The year is not important; just know that it was a time long before cars and the internet. It was a time when unicorns and fairies were not just a thing of myth and fantasy, but most of all; it was a time of magic. Our story starts with a young man, the once and future king, Arthur Pendragon. "Hello Gaius, what are you doing out in the courtyard?" asks an inquisitive 8 year old prince Arthur. "Hello Master Pendragon, I'm awaiting the arrival of my sister and her young charge at the moment." An excited prince then begins to pelt Gaius with questions. "Are they as young as me, do you think they would like to play, or sword fight, or go riding?" all very quickly and without stopping for air, as only a young child can. "Ah Master Pendragon, it seems like you may pose this questions yourself" As he sees his sister and a young child riding into the square. Arthur turns to look at the child riding up. As an only child an heir to the throne he finds himself lonely a majority of the time. yes he played with some of the knights children, but they usually treated him like a prince and let him win at games. This was something that the prince disliked more than anything, as a result he had few friends and spent most of his time not in studies or sword fighting just wandering the castle. This new child he thought might be the answer to his loneliness. While he was contemplating the impact of this new child in his life, he didn't realize that Gaius had left his side to greet the newcomers. By the time he reaches the group, most of the trivial chit chats about the journey and the weather has been spent. So it was perfect timing for introductions. "Oh yes, let me make introductions. Hunith this is Ma.." "Arthur! Just Arthur" the young boy cuts him off. "Ahh...yes Arthur. Arthur this is my sister Hunith." "It's nice to meet you young sir Arthur, and this is my Mi.." "Merlin! I'm also just Merlin" says the other almost shyly. "Well then" taking charge of the situation, Gaius decides to humor the young boy. "Hunith and I have many matters to discuss, perhaps Ma...um Arthur you would like to show Merlin around the castle." "Yes! I can show you the armory and where the knights sword fight, the library, and the dining room where you can get the best pastries!" says the very excited prince directing a large smile in the young Merlin's direction, where it was mirrored in her face as well.
