Chapter 1
She stood by the courtyard and nervously bit her fingernails. "Any word on them?" She turned to see Dean standing behind her. She shook her head, "Do you think we should go back?" Dean shook his head, "If we do, who would stay and protect the people here?" She sighed, "It's so frustrating to wait." Dean put his hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry. They would be fine." They had been evacuating a village when deatheaters attacked. Most of the aurors had to stay behind and fight. She wanted to stay and fight but Aiden and the children were entrusted to her. There were only five aurors who left with the evacuees; Lavender, Luna, Dean, Justin and her, the rest had to stay behind. Just then a loud "pop" was heard and they turned to see aurors apparating one by one in the courtyard. She immediately rushed over to Harry and threw her arms around him. "Thank goodness you're safe!" Harry hugged her tightly, "I told you I'll see you later, didn't I?" She simply ignored his comment and moved on to hug Ron and George who had apparated behind Harry. Pretty soon the courtyard was filled with apparating aurors, some were wounded and had to be rushed inside the center. She glanced around and looked for him, but to her disappointment she didn't see him. She felt her heart pumping faster and a cold sensation in her stomach. He can't- he should be fine. I must have missed him. She told herself. But as she started walking around, she felt her heart slowly sinking. He still hadn't come back. Just as the tears were about to fall she heard a loud "pop" and there in the middle of the courtyard was him. He was holding up an injured Seamus. She quickly rushed over to them. Her healer instincts took over and she quickly assessed Seamus' injury. The other aurors had seen the pair and had come over. Blaise and Neville carried Seamus inside and rushed him to where Madame Promfey was healing the other injured aurors. She turned to him and threw her arms around him hugging him tightly. "I was so worried." He stroked her hair and held her tightly. "I was about to apparate but then I saw Seamus lying on the ground groaning and I had to go get him. I'm sorry for making you worry." "I'm just glad you're alright." Blaise came up to them, "Harry wants everyone in hall." He nodded, took her hand and together they walked towards the hall. Harry gave the report about who was injured. Then he glanced at her, "Mione, have you figured out where they would be attacking next?" She nodded and told the group what she found out. Harry gave out the new partners, "…Ron, you're with Luna. George, you're with Neville. Draco, you're with Blaise and Mione, you're with me." She nodded and they got ready to leave. Just then a little boy came running up to her and wrapped his arms around her leg. She scooped him up and kissed him. "Aiden, you have to stay with Nana, ok?" Aiden pouted, "Why?" She sighed and met Draco's eyes. He came over and got Aiden from her, "Because Mommy and Daddy would have to go away for awhile." Harry, who had been watching the exchange between them, motioned her over. "Mione, if this is something you're not comfortable doing, then I suggest you stay. Aiden needs you. I can get someone to take your place." She shook her head. "I'll be fine Harry. Aiden needs both his parents. That's why we're doing this, for him." Harry sighed, "I would feel much safer if you're with Ginny at the headquarters." Ginny was two months pregnant and was told to stay behind. She smiled, "You know I would insist on going." He smiled, "I know." He glanced at Draco and Aiden who were talking. "You better go say goodbye. We're leaving in a few minutes." She nodded and joined her husband and son.
