A/N: Ah, IMAN one of my original fandoms and with me being a Hobbes Honey back in the day, I figured why not give this fandom another go since it's been ages. Besides, this is my IMAN anniversary month. IMAN was what got me started writing fanfics, and Bobby was always my favorite. Gotta love Paul Ben Victor! Anyway, also got IMAN recently on DVD and playing catch up with old memories. This is tags to Flowers For Hobbes because it's one of my all time favorite IMAN eppys.
Four Square:
By: LOSTrocker
Bobby came into the lab only to find it vacant when something caught his eye on Claire's desk. It was a Rubik's Cube. It wasn't solved. Seeing it, brought him back to the virus. With that stuff in him, he couldn't just put together one, or two. He had three going if he had it remembered correctly. Of course, he did a lot more than that. He tried to put that behind him. It was hard to do at night though when nightmares of hurting those he cared about most with his own hands. Thankfully, that gunk was way out of his system, cured. Still, he found himself reaching for it. Claire wouldn't mind. Okay, maybe she would because he always fiddled with her things, but she might take an exception this time for a theory Bobby had going on in that busy brain of his.
Hobbes made himself comfortable in Claire's chair. He took a moment, observing the cube before he went to clicking it's way together so that all the four walls were the color they were suppose to be.
Darien came in need for a fix to find his partner smirking at a job well done. All though, it made Darien a little uneasy. "Um, Bobby,"
His sudden appearance made Bobby jump. One would think with that invisible act that Bobby would be use to it. It came with the paranoia.
"Give a guy a heart attack,"
"My bad," Darien apologized. "Didn't expect to see you here."
"Meh, jest killin' time 'fore kills me."
"That's not funny Bobby," Darien has seen Bobby risk his life more than once, and there was that voice in the back of his head that told him, that he could loose Bobby at any second. The virus was clear evidence of that reality, and he didn't like because, much against his will he liked Hobbes. Sure, he was a pain in his ass most of the time, but for once he found someone who didn't think he was a total loser. It was rather refreshing actually.
"Relax my friend," Bobby assured Darien.
"I would except um, well," Darien pointed to the solved Rubik's Cube in his partner's hand.
Bobby laughed at him. "Ya don't think I needed that virus to crack one o' these did'ja?" Hobbes let his chucking die down. He gave him his serious face to remind him if anything was wrong with him, he'd be the first to let him know.
"I'm just making sure." Darien replied. "We came close to loosing Bobby,"
"Bobby Hobbes ain't goin' anywhere, anytime soon."
That made Darien smile.
"I'm stubborn as a rock." He tossed the cube to his partner. "Can ya crack 'em?" Considering that Darien went to school, he figured there was a possibility.
Fawkes returned it, tossing it right back at Hobbes. "Nah, never could." he confessed. "I hated those damn things."
"Hey, after I get situated, you want to grab a beer?" Darien offered.
"Only if yer buyin'," Bobby said with a smirk as he put the cube back on Claire's desk, right where he found it.
END.
