And it's driving me mad
It's written all over my face" smiths
A smile spread across his face as soon as he saw her come on the screen. A star of stage and screen, loved by millions and most importantly, by him. When had this all begun, he mused. He had started watching reruns of her old show only a year ago, the same night he had joined the Justice League. He found that none of his new team mates had wanted to go space swimming with him so he'd simply shrugged his shoulders and decided to watch whatever was on TV.
Actually he had angered Atom Smasher, whom he had been told was a sweetheart by his friend Kara. The 'Sweetheart' had become angered after the Creeper had shot twenty rubber bands at the man's left ear, each hitting their target with incredible accuracy, after which he had loudly declared to anyone within the satellite, "It's like hitting the broad side of a barn!" Atom Smasher, always somewhat uncomfortable about the size of his ears, had thrown him into the lounge area where his chin connected with the TV control's power button, turning it on. When he had woozily raised his head up he saw a goddess on the screen.
Honey blonde hair, delightfully pointy ears that seemed to peak out of her hair, clear blue eyes that seemed to see through him, and, oh wonder, the most beautiful snout he'd ever seen! What man could resist her physical charm? For the first time in his life he found himself committing a TV show's time and channel to memory.
As time went on he began to find out more and more about her. She was somewhat loud, but romantic. She was honest, caring and had a lovely sense of fashion. He also found out that she had a crush on her co-star, Kermit the Frog. For a week he had been rather upset, almost too upset to even watch the show. So upset that even his team mates noticed it. After all how could one simply continue to watch as the love of their life continued to throw themselves time and time again at a person who was so undeserving of them? But it was a burden he was willing to bear if it meant seeing her, if only for a few moments.
Still, he wondered, what was wrong with him? He was a fun guy. He wore cool clothes and had big muscles. Maybe it was the green that attracted her? He did have green hair, but that wasn't enough, was it? No, a woman of such culture and refine could not possibly find anything appealing in his yellow skin, his grin that constantly seemed to cause more discomfort than ease, and his often ill-timed jokes that no one ever laughed at.
He had kept watching the show though. It didn't matter that the lovely Miss Piggy Lee would never love him back. He still loved her and even if she never returned it, well, he couldn't very well just kill his love for her, could he? It would be killing a part of himself, cutting off an arm, mangling a toe, losing a nostril. He simply couldn't do without it and he couldn't do without seeing her at least once a day, sometimes twice if he was lucky enough to catch Muppet Babies. She was such a cute baby.
