The Chase

Damon sat perched in a tree, in crow form, once again he found himself watching her. Damon internally sighed. He was turning into quite the stalker. Despite himself, he smiled. Perhaps this Stephanie Meyer knows more about vampires then he thought. Damon stared through the window of the teenage girl- Elena's- bedroom. She sat curled up on the window seat, writing furiously in a little blue book. She tossed her corn silk hair over her shoulder and gazed forlornly out the window.

Oh how she looked like Katherine. Damon felt his chest lock as he thought about the other girl, the one that broke his heart. He growled, he would not confuse Elena for Katherine. No matter how alike they looked.

Even thinking her name was painful. Katherine... he shuddered. How he missed her.

Katherine was his little white kitten. How she viewed the world around her was so creative, so innocent. She had a laugh that would instantly put him in a better mood, and a smile that made his heart skip a beat.

He did not care in the slightest that she was a vampire, hell, he even found it enticing! She was so seductive when she wanted to be, exotic like a carnivorous flower, enchanting its prey with its beauty before clamping down its razor sharp teeth.

'What an excellent simile' Damon applauded himself, thinking of the sensation as Katherine closed her teeth around his neck. It was almost painless, he shrugged; besides, he would do anything for her.

Katherine had loved to play games, she was childlike mentally, and thrilled in pleasure at a simple game of tag. Damon remembered being out on the lawn with her, as she lifted her skirts and ran from him laughing.

"Try and catch me Master Salvatore!" she giggled as Damon grinned, and jogged after her, determined to make this game last as long as possible. His smiled faltered as he watched Katherine run into the arms of a solitary figure.

He closed his arms around her dainty waist and boldly planted a kiss on her cheek. Katherine giggled.

"It appears I have caught you, Katherine" the younger man said, looking devotedly into her eyes. Damon froze on the grass, watching his love in the arms of another man. Damon's presence was oblivious to the couple.

"It appears you have, Master Salvatore, and for that you have won a kiss." Katherine took the man's face in her hands and kissed him lightly. Damon watched on, repulsed, as his brother drew the woman closer to him.

"Excuse me Stefan, but I don't remember inviting you to this game?" Damon said, annoyed, as he marched towards the entwined couple. Katherine merely giggled again and twirled herself out of Stefan's arms.

"Your brother will always be invited to play with us Damon!" She smiled radiantly, like an angel.

"Come chase me boys! Both of you together! Chase me! Let's see who can catch me first..."

Katherine laughed and sped off, Damon and Stefan stared at each other with resentment, before sprinting off after her.

Damon would always love Katherine. He sighed again and continued to look through Elena's window. He could never have Katherine. Katherine was long dead.

Damon watched as his brother entered Elena's room, he held his breath as he took her in his arms and sealed her lips in a kiss.

"Chase me boys... Chase me!"

Oh how she looked like Katherine.
