Thrown from the void, Amy fights to regain her memories, protect the people from the monsters that took away what she loved most, and deals with balancing romance amidst it all. Note: I don't own Sonic or Soulworker~

The clouds were moving quickly. The sky was as blue as the male hedgehog's eyes that sat in front of me. There is the sound of tea being poured, the feeling of a leaf hitting my forehead, then, a flash of black fur, bright red blood, a terrible screaming. I heard myself screaming, as I watched the wolf tear into the male pink hedgehog in front of me. All too quickly, a scythe appears in my hand, and I'm screaming and slashing the wolf to oblivion...

There are tears as I slide down the wall and stare at the dismantled body of my brother laying next to the dead wolf. Then, all too suddenly, I am sucked up into the air by a purple force I have never seen before.

Golden eyes look up to the sky as thunder rumbles. The black purple environment in the air was no longer a surprise, but the lightning surrounding the void could only mean one thing. The last child was coming out, she needed to prepare a team to go out there and retrieve the girl. Footsteps behind her could be heard, as she turned her head to look at three people approaching.

"Is it time?"

"Yeah, I'll need all three of you. Let's go."

The four of them boarded and climbed into a humvee and headed off towards the void outside the broken and abandoned city.

"Amy... Amy... wake up."

The pinkettes eyes opened slowly. The feeling of her falling through the sky at a fast speed cause them to open wide. She gasped and looked around her, panicking at her own free fall. What was going on? Where was she? Oh god, she was starting to approach the ground and she wasn't slowing down. She found her voice as she screamed for help, her rescue coming quickly as she was caught in the arms of someone right before she hit the ground. Her eyes opened and she stared up at red eyes. He was a black hedgehog with red streaks in his fur. She looked a bit confused, and as she started to speak, voices could be heard from another side.

"Shadow?!"

He looked up at them momentarily, before looking back at Amy. "Forgive me." He whispered. His hand went over her forehead as a red glow emerged from his hands. Soon her eyes shut back without her knowledge as she fell asleep. He put her on the ground and started to walk away from the approaching group. His ears twitched. Two of them had guns, one of them was the crazy chick that could wield a magical guitar, and the other could bend fire at their will. He turned his head to them slightly. A white bat flew down and picked up Amy, glaring at Shadow's retreating form. "What did you do to her?"

"I simply erased her memory of me." He stated simply.

"Why would you do that?" Blaze walked up to stand next to Rouge, her golden eyes glaring at Shadow's own, "Why waste your energy on something like that?"

"Why not?" He said, "I like to stay under the radar. This is the best way to do it." Before they could argue anymore he vanished. Rouge growled and turned to Blaze.

"Let's get her into the hummer and get going before any monsters show up." Blaze nodded and the two turned to walk back to the vehicle. "Knuckles and Silver, you drive and navigate. Rouge, try to reverse the affects of Shadow's mind wiping."

"Yes, Blaze." The two said quickly, as they piled up to the front of the car. Blaze kneeled down beside the pink girl in the back with Rouge. The bat put her hands over the girls head, trying to undo the affects of Shadow's ability. She looked up to Blaze in curiousity, "Any reason why her losing her memory could have caused so much anger?"

"She could have important information about the void." Blaze said quickly, "If Shadow had even misused that ability by a little bit she could forget everything." Blaze nodded. The humvee drove through a destroyed and burnt down part of a city, before arriving at a gate. Knuckles showed his ID to the guards standing there. They scanned it and then allowed him in. He pulled through as they showed up in a more social and lively part of town that was still up and running. Amy's eyes started to flutter open and she moaned. Silver peaked his head over the back to look. The pink hedgehog sat up quickly. She took in her surroundings. She was in a vehicle with four people she didn't know. She blinked, "Um, hi?"

Blaze handed her a water bottle, "Hi, I'm Blaze. This is Rouge." She pointed to the front row, "That's Knuckles and Silver. Sorry for the fright, if we gave you one." Amy blinked again.

"Um, that's nice. My name is um... uh..." She frowned to herself.

"Amy, your name is Amy."

Amy jumped up quickly and turned to look for a different voice, but she saw no one. She realized how crazy she looked and shook her head, "I'm... Amy."

Blaze raised an eyebrow at her, "So, you remember your name?"

"I... yeah, sort of." Amy still didn't know what that was just now. It still spooked her. Rouge gave her a small pat on the back, "Why don't you rest since you just woke up? Take a look outside." Amy nodded and observed the buildings outside of the car. It seemed wherever she wound up was constantly being terrorized. In the farethest places she could see, there were buildings destroyed or on fire. Everything surrounding them inside the gates was still standing, and there seemed to be people. She thought to herself and closed her eyes.

"So, you know who I am?"

"I know everything about you, as I am a part of you."

"So, what can you tell me since I can't even remember?"

"How much do you want to know?"

"Everything."

"You used to live here, before it was taken over by monsters of course. Back when this place was still just a normal city with no monsters. You were having tea with your brother at home. He went inside to get something when you heard a scream. You rushed in to find him being eaten by... one of them. Your rage and tears unlocked me, your soul weapon, and with me you killed that beast bit by bit. Then, because you were able to summon me, the void took you away. And now, you have returned back home. Er, well, it least, what's left of... "home.""

"How come you can remember all this but I can't?"

"Well, for one, that bastard tried to wipe your memories."

"What bastard?"

"That red eyed bastard! The bat called him 'Shadow' and while I do not know if he is a good or bad guy yet, I can tell he is holding a soul weapon of his own. Which means he was also taken by the void and was returned just like you were."

It was as if suddenly her memory unlocked a small bit. She remembered falling out of the sky and being caught by the ebony hedgehog. That must be who that "Shadow" guy was.

"Oh, him."

"Now don't you dare go giving him the goo goo eyes."

"I-I wasn't-"

"Oh don't you lie to me!"

"Anywayyyyy if you're my soul weapon, what do you look like?"

"Easy."

All of a sudden, a huge scythe popped up onto Amy's lap, scaring the crap out of Rouge and Amy who sat in the back. Amy's eyes sparkled as she started petting the scythe, "Wow, so cool~"

"What the-" Blaze said quickly before Rouge screeched and hugged Amy.

"You're one of us!" Rouge exclaimed happily. Amy let out a scared laugh and turned to her scythe. The thing had an eye open and it looked to Amy, speaking with her publicly.

"I'm not an animal, stop petting me!" Amy froze, and then put her hands up in an apologizing motion. She turned to Blaze who was sitting closer to the window than before. "Sorry, this is my soul weapon, I think." Blaze smiled.

"I have one too." Soon a guitar popped onto Rouge's back. It looked over at Amy, then the scythe. "Look, the last one has appeared."

"Last one?" Amy asked suddenly. "Last one what?"

"You're the last child." Knuckles said from the drivers seat. "The void took six mobians a long time ago as youngins. Every child that's come back has come with new supernatural powers or weapons. You're one, then Rouge is one. There's also Peri, Sally, Sonic, and that red eyed bastard."

"Shadow." Amy said quickly. Rouge whipped her head around to look at Amy, "You remember him?"

"He tried to erase her memories and succeeded, but he can't erase the memories of a soul weapon." Amy's scythe chimed in. Amy nodded, "Was there any reason in particular he wanted my memories gone?"

"He likes to stay under the radar." Blaze hissed.

Amy nodded as the car stopped and they pulled up to a building. It looked like an apartment complex from the look of it. All five of them stepped out of the humvee as they made their way towards the entrance. Amy rubbed her arms a bit nervously as her scythe automatically clung to her back. Silver held the door open and allowed them all to walk in, winking at Blaze as she walked by. She rolled her eyes and huffed as they continued in. She then looked over to Amy, "All the soul workers live here. So you'll be working along side with Rouge and the others and also living with them here." They walked in the door and Amy spotted a blue hedgehog sitting down and playing cards with a squirrel and a bandicoot. Blaze stepped into the room and whistled for their attention. They all looked up at her and then to the pinkette with the huge scythe on her back.

"Whoa." Sonic sped over to the pink hedgehog quickly, "Is she the last one?" His closeness scared Amy slightly as she jumped back and away from him. She nodded though and out stretched her hand, "Amy." He took her hand and shook it in return. "I'm Sonic."

By this time Sally and Peri had stood and made their way over to her, waving to her slightly.

"I'm Sally, welcome home." Sally was wearing a blue tank top with a light camo jacket over it and worse some blue jeans with it. Peri was simply wearing some leggings and a tshirt but attempted to be friendly none the less, "I'm Peri."

"Amy, and this is my soul weapon." She pointed to the scythe on her back.

"Nice, a scythe. Haven't seen one of those yet." Peri said admiringly. Blaze nodded and looked at Sally.

"Would you mind showing Amy to her room?" The squirrel nodded and motioned for the pinkette to follow. Amy said goodbye to everyone else and followed Sally to an elevator. It was awkward and silent for a while, as Amy didn't have much to say since she didn't really have most of her memories back yet. They got to the very top floor where Sally opened a door. Amy's jaw dropped. It was more like a pent house than a bedroom. She stepped in, slightly confused as there were a few things everywhere.

"Sorry, this used to be... Shadow's room." Sally scrunched her face up at some trash that was by the back door. "He never was here long enough to even clean it." Amy shook her head.

"No worries, I can clean this up. It gives me something to do." Amy looked around for some trash bags before she made her way to the back of the door, "Will you let me know if you need me?"

Sally nodded, "I will. Welcome to the team Amy." Amy smiled as Sally left the room. Her smile dropped quickly and she turned to the empty room, "I know you're in here. Why don't you come out?" Her scythe detached itself from her back and jumped into her hands.

"Nice to know you can pick up on a presence so easily." Her scythe commented, "I felt it the moment I walked into the room."

Shadow stepped out from a dark part of the room, eyes intrigued. He stepped closer to her, causing her to tense up and lift her scythe in case he turned out to be a threat. He simply kept walking to her. His gaze softened and she felt her guard fading.

"Amy! Don't you dare let your guard down!"

He place his hands over and on top of hers, "What good are you if you let yourself be open that easily?" He leaned closer as he started breathing into her ear. She growled and kicked him in his chest and away from her, holding her scythe close. He jumped backwards and landed on his feet easily. "You should have been quick to attack me from the get go instead of hesitating."

"Why do you even care?" Amy hissed, "Why aren't you fighting with us? Or are you fighting with them?"

"I do not fight with this possee, simply because I refuse to be someones weapon for war. That's all they want." His eyes darted to the people outside, "They don't see us as people, or heros. They simply see us as weapons."

"So you don't save them? Don't protect them?"

"I kill monsters for fun. It's what I do. I can protect this town on my own will, not by being in a group of people being told what I can and can't attack by someone who isn't even a soul worker to begin with." His voice rose, "I spent years, trapped in that... that thing." He pointed to the large purple void, "I wanted freedom once I escaped. But I wasn't allowed that. I wasn't free to protect people how I wanted or to live where I wanted." He tried to calm down and let out a sigh of relief, "So I quit."

"They just let you quit so easily?" Amy whispered.

"No. Not easily. I was tracked for months. Blaze demanded they bring me in to ensure that I wasn't a "threat" to them or the team." Shadow scoffed, "They didn't want me to turn around and turn into an enemy."

Amy put her scythe away. "Well... I don't know what you want with me. But please leave my room." He quirked an eyebrow at her. He let out a sigh but nodded, "Fine... Leave one of your windows unlocked for me?"

"Huh?" Amy asked, "Why on earth would I do that?"

"Sometimes I need a place to crash after I'm done having fun. So I come and sleep here. I guess... I can find somewhere else to go now that this room has been reassigned." She shook her head,

"No, it's fine." She wasn't sure why she was still listening to this. "Just go." He nodded and in a flash he was gone. She turned and jumped onto her bed. She stiffened instantly. She would have to wash these tomorrow. She closed her eyes and snuggled into the bed covers. Her scythe popped out and laid next to her.

"What did I tell you?!" Her scythe warned, "He might not be good news. He's probably trouble. Also, are you snuggling these sheets because you're cold, or because they smell like him?"

"It's not like that!" Amy blushed, "I'm definitley cold... I'm just tired."

"I'm here to protect you. Please don't let my powers be in vain." Amy sighed. Her weapon was right though. She clapped her hands as the lights turned off, wondering what she would have to go through tomorrow.
