'So, just going to sit there?' a voice sighed.

'But what can I do?' he whimpered, arms metaphorically tied.

'Oh, right,' his subconscious mocked viciously. "I'm talking to Neville Longbottom. The weak, incompetent fool. The one that everyone thought was a Squib. The one that no one ever relies on."

Fury mingled with adrenaline, 'Shut up!'

'But you know I'm right... Unless you're prepared to fight?'

"I will," he grunted, grabbing the Sword of Gryffindor, lunging towards the snake.

And with that inner battle over, it was time to get back to the actual task at hand.
