A/N-I wrote this on International Women's Day. The fact that there even is one of those irrtates me, but at least I got some inspiration out of it.

People ask me who my role model is.

When I say I don't have one, trying to avoid the question,

They say, "What about the famous women of history?"

Rosa Parks.

Susan B. Anthony.

Sally Ride.

Sure, I admire them. I don't want to live their lives or do what they did, but I appreciate their sacrifices.

Then people ask, "What about your mother? Your grandmother?"

Well, I love them very much, but I don't necessarily agree with everything they do and have done.

People just won't drop the subject of role models.

When I finally have given up on getting people to leave me alone, I tell them who my role models are.

People are always surprised when they find out.

I tell them this:

I do not have typical role models. None of them are the women or men history books say are influential and important. I don't look up to any of those people.

No, I look up to people who aren't alive, or even real.

I look up to the characters in the books I read.

Max.

Cinder.

Scarlet.

Cress.

Winter.

Iko.

Inej.

Nina.

Morrigan.

Feyre.

Eowyn.

Penny.

Cath.

Wren.

Mare.

Nesta.

Hazel.

Alaska.

Margo.

Jude.

Annabeth.

Thalia.

Risa.

These are the strong, faithful, funny, sassy, independent, brave, smart, kind, trustworthy, tenacious women I look up to.

Who's your role model?

A/N-No, seriously. Tell us who your role model is in your review! It can be anyone. Scarlet and I don't judge.

Love,

Baz
