You would think that for a woman as amazing and talented as Donna, he would have planned something extraordinary, but this was nothing like that. This was not even planned. He didn't know it was going to happen like this. It was more spontaneous than anything else. He could have planned the perfect moment for her. But to him, this moment was just right and he didn't even realize it until the words just came tumbling out of his mouth.

"Marry me."

They were in his living room relaxing after a long day of work. She had her head in his lap and was watching an old re-run of Star Trek at a very low volume because he was still looking over some files he had brought home with them. The coffee table was littered with half empty boxes of Chinese take out. He was more focused on her than the document he was holding in his hand. His free hand was playing with the ends of her hair, and he was trying to memorize the location of each freckle on her face. It honestly looked like a picture of domestication. A picture of love. It was perfect for them, exactly what they needed. If anyone had told Harvey a few years ago that this is where he would end up now, he would've laughed and told them that they were wrong. But he also knew that the only person he could imagine settling down with is Donna. She was his constant. She was his person and at that moment he couldn't control the words out of his mouth.

When Donna heard those two little words, she froze. She wasn't sure if she was imagining it or not. She sat up, took the remote, muted the TV, and faced him.

"Did you just say, what I think you just said?"
"Yeah, I did."

"Harvey…"

"Yes, Donna?"

"Did you mean it?"

"Yes, I did. I do."

"I… are you crazy?"

This was not the response that Harvey was expecting. Sure, it was a bit out of the blue. But he wasn't crazy. It made sense, well it did in his head. Apparently, it didn't for her.

"What do you mean? I'm not crazy. I'm being very serious here."

"Don't you think it's a bit too soon? It's only been a few months!" exclaimed Donna.

" But if you think about it. It's been so much longer than a few months."

"Yeah, but we only just started officially dating."

"We're not exactly what you call normal, Donna. We have never been normal. We confessed our love before our first date. We slept together over 10 years ago, and as much as I hate to admit this, the pup is already kind of like our child. We have waited over a decade to get here and I don't plan on losing you. I have always been afraid of commitment, you know that, but this time, I know I want to commit. I want to commit to you, to us. I'm not wasting anytime anymore because now we finally have it right. I love you and I know what I want. I want to be with you. You always have been there for me since the beginning. You are what I need. It's always been you, Donna."

Tears were starting to form in her eyes. He's never been that vocal about his emotions. She has just always been able to read him and it's worked for him. So for her to actually hear these words come out of his mouth was overwhelming.

"Are you going to say anything?" asked Harvey nervously. She had gotten quiet after his speech and he didn't know what that meant.

"Ask me again," said Donna.

"What?"

"Ask me to marry you again."

Harvey grinned at her and got off the couch. He kneeled on one knee and took her hand and stared into her eyes.

"Donna Paulsen, will you marry me?"

"Yes."
