"In the kitchen. Thanks Ollie." Lois smiled at Oliver. Oliver nodded and got up from the table to walk away from the chatter. He pushed open the kitchen door to find the blond he barely recognized standing over the Kent's sink. He thought for a minute about what her name was and finally remembered.
"Chloe?" Oliver was going to regret it if he got her name wrong, but he relaxed when the tear stained blond whipped around in surprise. Chloe looked around for a minute and wiped at her eyes in a poor attempt at hiding her sadness.
"Uh, hi..Mr. Queen." Chloe mumbled, biting her lip nervously. Oliver raised his eyebrows. The last time he saw the blond she was a big ball of energy with a smile that couldn't go unnoticed.
"Are...you okay?" Oliver asked, awkwardly. He didn't know her at all, just the bits and pieces Lois would mention here and there. Chloe put on the smile he remembered and nodded.
"Yeah, just getting the cranberry sauce for Clark. It's like a dessert for him, he eats them by the jars." Chloe laughed, turning around to open up the fridge. Oliver tilted his head and walked closer.
"Ah, while your at it could you get some ice? Lois' wrist still hurts from what happened." Oliver only assumed Lois had informed her cousin about what happened.
"Sure." Chloe nodded after pulling the cranberry sauce out, then searched the freezer to dump some ice in a bag.
"Really, Chloe, is something wrong?" Oliver asked, stepping just a little closer to her. Chloe turned as she zipped the bag and got a towel to wrap it in, as if ignoring his question. "Chloe?"
"I'm fine. It's not like you care, you're just being a good boyfriend. You don't have to worry about good impressions, Mr. Queen." Chloe looked up at Oliver and pushed the bag towards his direction. Oliver never broke eye contact with her as he took the bag.
"Look, you don't have to worry about looking bad or anything. You can't hide tear stains." Oliver frowned, setting the bag aside. Chloe frowned and looked down, shaking her head.
"Clark is one of the biggest idiots around, did you know that?" Chloe mumbled, looking up at him. Oliver couldn't help but smile a little at her. Chloe smiled as well and wiped at the side of her face, shaking her head. "He's constantly chasing after a girl that doesn't love him when he has someone that loves him unconditionally right in front of him."
"You..?" Oliver asked, softly. Chloe looked up at him again and bit her lip. He wanted to gather her in his arms, the depression in her face was almost unbearable. He wasn't the emotional type, but the look she was giving him was heart wrenching.
"You're obviously uncomfortable." Chloe laughed an obviously fake laugh. "It's okay, Mr. Queen. You don't have to listen to me whine."
Before Oliver could respond, he heard the sound of Clark's voice come form the dining room calling for Chloe. Chloe looked up at Oliver, smiled politely, and walked out with the cranberry sauce. Oliver picked up the bag of ice and followed after a few minutes after her. He sat down next to Lois.
"Jeeze Ollie, I was beginning to worry Chloe killed you back there or something." Lois teased, taking the ice from his hands. Oliver smirked at her and looked behind her to see Chloe handing Clark the cranberry sauce and laughing a little at something he said.
Oliver frowned when he saw Chloe sit back down and look at Clark longingly. He heard her cellphone go off and watched as she picked it up. The smile on her face was genuine this time as she read her text message and he smiled as well.
