He didn't have to. They didn't have to. But they did.
Because it was all chalked up to Destiny before, and they didn't believe in Love. If they had, Jounouchi might've ended up with Mai, and Kaiba would've eloped with his laptop – if not Mokuba first.
So it was probably a good thing that they defied the shades of "meant to be" and carried out on their own. Who was Fate to blueprint their futures? This is their challenge, their obstacle course; be an asshole about it somewhere else because you're just a third wheel.
Fuck off, world, this was, and will always, be their decision, not yours.
"Prove what?"
Kaiba's hair tangles through Jounouchi's skittering fingers, and Jounouchi is glad to see that, for once, Kaiba is human too. He flicks his tongue instinctively across his lips before Kaiba yanks him back up, crushing their mouths together. "Stupid."
They're not supposed to be together.
