Bear pals

There are many types of people, shades, colors and all sorts of things in the world. But what intrigued a child of five was not anything but bears. Somehow, he could not find the perfect bear. But yet…Tamaki would not give up. He stepped into the shop with his father. He was going to visit his mum today, and bring her a little gift from the shop. He stepped into the shop and heard the bell jingle softly. Inside the shop was another little boy, around his age, with golden eyes, clutching onto his father's cloak. He was sucking on a lollipop and also holding a brown bear with a sad face.

"Chichiue…I don't want this bear anymore. Madam Shopkeeper sewed it so ugly…it's asymmetrical, please, chichiue…" the little boy pleaded. Tamaki stared with his velvet eyes.

"Papa…I like that boy's bear."

That did it.

The young shinigami turned to face the other boy. He stared at him, as if seeing something new. Slowly, he stuck out the hand with the bear.

"Here, golden hair boy. It's horribly asymmetrical. I hate it."

Tamaki reached out with his two chubby hands and grabbed the bear. It had an upturned mouth, an unhappy look, and a black bow with skulls on it. But he still loved it anyway.

"T-thank you…" he said softly. The shinigami then waved goodbye and walked out.

~FIFTEEN YEARS LATER~

Tamaki sat on the comfy plush first-class seat in the plane, staring out of the window. In the small bag placed at his feet sat his bear and his personal belongings. There was a clattering of bags and he saw a raven haired boy entering. Something was very familiar about that boy…right down to his honey-golden eyes.

"Are you Mr. Suoh? I was supposed to be seating beside a Mr. Suoh on this plane…according to my assistant." The voice jolted him out of his reverie. "Yes…yes…I am the one your assistant may have been referring to…"

"Ah. You look familiar."

"Yes…you too." Tamaki replied, as the boy placed his bags in the overhead compartment. He rummaged in his bag and slowly brought out his bear, Kuma-chan. The raven haired boy gasped.

"Ah…about fifteen years ago…I…"

"You gave me this bear…in a shop where I was shopping for my mama-san's gift…"

"You thanked me and then I left and never saw you again…I didn't even know your name!"

Tamaki just grinned his silly smile. "No worries…no time like the present. Well. My name is Tamaki Suoh."

"Death the Kid."

And they shared a firm handshake, a beginning of a great friendship.
