The dark gloomy night in the land of Gilneas rained heavily, coating the country in a cloud of mist, the rain hammering down on the Gothic styled city, it was quickly approaching into the late hours of the night, many people who would have to be up early in the morning preparing to go to sleep, in one such place in the Shadowstalker manor, a young, small raven haired child yawned, her mother helping the exhausted child prepare for bed. Dropping her arms as her mother shuffled the nightgown down her body, she peeked her sky blue eyes open; a replica of her mothers, gazed at the elder women's tanned face tiredly. "Can we go horse riding tomorrow?" The child muttered quietly, sleepiness heavy in her words.
"Of course we can, Kiate dear." Responded the mother in a kind soothing voice to her child, "Now come on, in the bed." Elaine spoke, guiding her child into the large four poster bed.
Climbing up her bed Kiate burrowed herself into the covers, snuggling down into the pillow, as her mother kissed her forehead and snuffed out the candle, Kiate turned her gaze to the window, her eyes drooping somewhat, quickly approaching sleep. Just as her eyes dropped closed, she could have sworn she saw a figure by the window, a large hunched back figure, it's body seemingly covered in slick wet fur, but it's eyes, an odd yellow-orange glow, and the pupils of its eyes, like yellow moons, gazed to the side of Kiate's window, probably down at the streets below. Though. This could have just been Kiate's tired mind playing tricks on her, along with the rain pattering against the window disorting the figure on the roof.
She dropped her eyes, quickly fading into a peaceful rest.
"Wake up!"
"Kiate! Wake up!" Elaine's panicked voice broke Kiate out of the haze of darkness in sleep. Quickly noting her daughter was now awake, she helped Kiate up and out of bed.
"Mm.. M-mum?" She murmured. "What's going on?"
"There's no time to explain! But quick! Get dressed! I'll be back in a moment!" Elaine spoke out to her in a hurry, quickly rushing back out into the room, looking at the grandfather clock in the side of her room, Kiate noted that she had been asleep for at least six hours. Deciding not to rush after her mother and ask a series of questions plaguing her mind, she rushed over to her drawers, pulling off the nightgown as quick as she could and grabbing several clothing items, slipping into her shorts and chucking on a rather loose fitting shirt, she looked to her dressing table, rushing over and taking of the Gilnean tabard laying atop the table, quickly tossing it over her head and grabbing the belt after, wrapping it around her small waist, being the rather small girl she was for an Eight year old, many mistook her for at least being five! It wasn't her fault everyone was so freakishly tall!
"Good! Come on, downstairs!" Her mother was back in the room, grabbing her hand and practically dragging her towards the door, her mother was dressed in loose fitting cloths, a rather simple wear for a women of her placing. She also had a brown leather bag, full of items, probably food, and some objects wrapped under a white cloth, she couldn't make them out in the hurry her mother had to put her shoe's on.
"Outside! To your father!" Elaine demanded of her, which was odd, for a kind and peaceful women such as herself, though Kiate knew from experience she only raised her voice when worried, so she just nodded and rushed outside to her father, he was by the carriage, loading on some emergency luggage.
"Dad?" She spoke up to her father, her voice small. Andrew turned to his daughter, running his hand through his short raven black hair worriedly, trying to put up a smile onto his rather pale face. "Kiate, my dear, come now, up into the carriage" He spoke softly to her, worry in his voice, beckoning her over to the seats in the carriage, Kiate frowned worriedly, what was going on? She took the time she had to look through the window of the carriage, listening carefully about the rustling's her mother and father made, she could hear something awhile away, like metal hitting metal, surely the blacksmiths weren't at work at this hour? She scowled heavily now, even more worried.
Jumping as her mother jumped up onto the carriage, graceful even in her hurried movements, she closed the carriage door behind her.
"Is dad not coming in with us?" Question Kiate, looking up at her mother as she hugged into her, Elaine keeping Kiate close to her body.
"No, he'll be driving the carriage." Elaine responded, looking out at the windows nervously.
"Mum, what's going on?" Kiate spoke up to her mother, tired of being clueless.
"There's an attack, in the city" Elaine responded. "The guards are doing the best they can, but I'm not taking the risk, we'll be leaving Gilneas."
"What? But the wall?" She question again, growing more confused. How'd they even get in? How are they going to get out?
"I used to sneak out of the city, I know a gap in the wall, it's blocked off well, and in the far end of the country, but we can get to it."
"Is that how they got in?"
"...No...No, they got in the wall." Elaine spoke wearily now, dearly hoping that her antics as a teenager with Yaros didn't put the city in dreadful danger.
Kiate nodded, snuggling into her mothers side, looking around anxiously. Her mother running her hand through her daughters hair, hoping to at least calm her in this dreadful situation, the carriage running along the path way, riding through the misty night.
RIGHT FUCKERS. I've decided to start the story again, didn't like how it turned out before. Yes. I'm still doing quotes. Because.
Well.
Quotes.
Oh, and it might have random updates, no certain timetable right now. Meh, may even change the name. And summary. *Decides to expand on the idea of Kiate's parents so you can atleast get there basic personality.* Don't be fooled. Andrew's actually a dick.
