"Jerrica, there's...there's someone else. I'm sorry."

"Oh, Rio...who is it?"

Rio sighed. He'd known it wouldn't be easy, but he couldn't bear to hurt Jerrica anymore than he already had. "It's Jem."

"Jem?" Jerrica bit her lip. "Rio, I know I should've told you this sooner, but I was afraid that--"

"Have you been lying to me? You know I hate liars!"

"Uh, look over there!"

"Huh?" There was nothing behind him. He turned back to Jerrica and found Jem standing exactly where she'd been. "Jem? What--where's Jerrica?"

"She just ran into the house," said Jem. "She was very upset."

"I told her it's over. Now we can be together!"

Jem shook her head. "Rio, I could never be with someone who treated Jerrica like that," she said softly. "I want you to get back together with her."

"But...what about us?"

"I'll...I'll talk to Jerrica about it!" Jem said brightly. "I'm sure she wouldn't mind if we both went out with you!"

"Are you sure about--"

"Just kiss me, Rio. Then I'll go talk to Jerrica."

Rio did what he was told. Maybe it was best to leave this whole thing to Jem and Jerrica.
