Hunters in the Dark
Along the darkened forest floor,
The silent snake, it slithers.
Moves on its prey, a little rat,
Its tongue lets out a flicker.
…
Its prey remains oblivious,
It goes by unaware.
The snake recoils, then it strikes,
Goes sailing through the air.
…
Its prey, it does not have a chance,
Through poisoned fang its downed.
The snake now resides over kill,
And in forest, looks around.
…
Something else is lurking here,
A hunter, in the dark.
The snake, its eyes begin to twitch,
Its heart lets out a start.
…
Something's now within itself,
In body, and in soul.
The snake convulses, lashes out,
Possession takes its toll.
…
Silence, then, begins to move,
Begins to slink along.
Its mind now filled with but one word,
A word by name of "Tom."
